Hocom Opens Distribution in South Asia and Middle East
Matteuzzi Positive About India
Vietnamese envelope maker Hocom Rubber has appointed a dealer in the Indian market to promote its range of envelopes. “We have appointed Coimbatore based Ultra as our dealer in the Indian market,” informed T H Yew, Assistant General Manager, Hocom Rubber Technology. The Indian company made a start by importing 600 envelopes as a first consignment last year. “Another consignment of 1000 envelopes is already on the way and will arrive on Indian shores in the next few weeks,” said Yew.

Lanka is another booming market. The economy is maintaining an upward trend after the end the of civil war,” stated Yew. Hocom appointed its dealer, S J Marketing, in the capital Colombo in
2009; the company importing envelopes regularly from Hocom.
Hocom Rubber is also eyeing the Middle East market. “We are planning to appoint a dealer in Dubai shortly. In our plan, the Dubai based dealer would cater for the whole Middle East market as well as Turkey,” Yew stated.

Matteuzzi made an entry into the Indian retreading market a couple of years back with Coimbatore-based Rajmahaal. But it seems that things have not shaped up on expected lines for the Italian equipment maker. However, the company still seems bullish about the Indian market. “The radial market is growing and the new bigger players that are entering the retreading sector are good signs for the Indian retreading industry as well as for those of us who are looking for a foothold in the Indian market,” believes Emilio Matteuzzi. The Italian company is more active on the new tyre side as there is a huge domestic tyre industry. “We will be more active in retreading in the 2-3 years time,” he stated.
Radials would probably be retreaded by the precure process and also, with the entry of bigger tyre makers, the retreading sector is opening opportunities for high end equipment makers in the Indian market. “The Indian retreading industry is upgrading and that brings a whole lot of opportunities for us,” Matteuzzi said. The Bologna-based company has already installed a precure finishing line called Liner 350 in India. It also feels that its Spectra line has a good future ahead in India along with whole range of buffer and buffing machinery. “We hope to get good results in 2012,” said Matteuzzi. “It will take some time as our equipment is not cheap. However, we have observed that things are moving in
a positive direction. It is also true that if you only go for price, you end up buying cheap equipment,” Matteuzzi said.
Matteuzzi makes machines for new tyre manufacturers and for retreaders of tyres for cars, light trucks, trucks, earthmovers and aircraft. Its product range also includes finishing lines for precured treads. In this sector, Matteuzzi
Emilio Matteuzzi, Managing Director, Matteuzzi
builds machines with varying degrees of automation (from semi-automatic to computerized), designed to work different lengths and profiles of precured tread strips.
MAE Hopes to Expand in India
India is fast emerging as an important market and both retread material makers and equipment manufacturers are looking towards India with interest. A few international brands are looking for distributors as part of their initial entry strategy before making some bigger plans in the future.
Italian company, MAE Industria Gomma is one of those studying the Indian market. “We are planning to
establish a distribution network in India and we are looking for people who could work with us. We are studying the market potential for our product range of envelopes and curing bags,” said Giampaolo Malatesta of MAE. MAE participated jointly with the Coimbatore based retreading equipment maker Rajmahaal at Tyrexpo India. MAE started supplying envelopes to Rajmahaal about three years ago.
MAE Srl is headquartered and has its factories located about 50 km south of Rome. The company has been in the tyre retreading field from last five decades. It manufactures and exports its curing tubes, bladders and envelopes worldwide. MAE complies with all demands coming from retreaders whether they hot type plants with tube or bladder presses or precured type plants with double envelope or envelope/tube chambers.
