In the past years, the tyre retreading market in Europe has remained under the pressure of cheap Chinese tyres, but re- cently their presence on the market has been shrinking.
“Chinese products have quickly gained due to the low prices, and a bit later due to improvements in the quality. The ex- plosion of logistical costs and the intro- duction of the anti-dumping duty is cer- tainly pushing up prices. That said, we believe that beyond the price dynamics, the quality of retreading products is still associated with a better mileage compa- red to a cheap Chinese tyre. It is ecolo- gical and extremely customisable accor- ding to the applications,” Cimarelli said.

Cimarelli mainly works with premium casings, though for some types of low- speed uses, the company retreads some Chinese casings.
“The feedback is good, but we think it is not feasible from the economic point of view to use Chinese casings for the most popular sizes such as 385/65R22.5 or 385/55R22.5. In general, we prefer to have a straight approach with our clients and use their casings,” Cimarelli said.
“Regarding raw materials, we have been working strongly and closely with Vipal Rubber for many years. We rely on them, getting in return excellent products in
terms of quality, at a good price, and deli- vered quickly,” he added. “Vipal offers us technical service and commercial assis- tance to our network sales to approach the right product for the right applica- tion”.
