Despite the challenges of the past few years, Italian retreader Carloni has high hopes for the coming years, seeing a growth in demand on the domestic market, as tyre retreading gains a foothold in the European industry’s green agenda.
Founded in 1943 by Adelmo Carloni, an Italian pioneer of retreading techniques, Carloni SRL is currently one of the largest retreaders in the country, with a strong specialisation in OTR products. In this seg- ment, the company boasts a production ca- pacity of around 4,500 tyres per year and is one of the main European retreaders, Dr. Daniele Cimarelli, commercial director of Carloni said.
On the TBR side, the company has a capa- city ranging between 25,000 and 30,000 tyres per year, combining both cold and hot retreading technologies. The production
performance has been seen steadily rising in the last years, owing to a mix of factors.
AGAINST THE ODDS
While numerous European retreaders ex-      Covid-19 pandemic, Carloni managed to boost its operation.
“In the last two years, paradoxically, we ha- ve increased production capacity by hiring both factory workers and administrative and commercial staff,” Cimarelli said, admi- tting that hiring new workers is considered
to be one of the main issues in the industry these days. “At the moment the real pro- blem at hand is a generational transition, as          learn the strings of the retreading proces-     
        management, the company has taken a re- newed development approach, managing to grow even in those sectors that were once not core business, such as the sale of new TBR and OTR tyres.
