Three New Unicircle Products from Goodyear
New RECAMIC Product in Michelin Retreading Programme
To help regional fleets in the United States extend the life of their tyres, Goodyear is introducing three new premium spliceless UniCircle retreads.
The Fuel Max RSD (Regional Service Drive) UniCircle Retread is a matching tread design
to the new Fuel Max RSD drive tyre, with
deep
traction
features
for
enhanced
traction
as the tyre
wears and
is
SmartWay
verified for
fuel-efficiency.
Meanwhile, the
Fuel Max RTD
(Regional Traction Drive) UniCircle Retread carries a matching tread design to the recently launched Fuel Max RTD premium regional drive tyre and features an open-shoulder design that maximises traction and mileage It carries the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake designation and is also SmartWay verified for fuel-efficiency.
Finally, the UltraGrip RTD
(Regional Traction Drive) UniCircle Retread, which matches Goodyear's all-season regional drive tyre of the same name, features an evolving open-shoulder design with biting edges and sipes, which have earned it the Three-
Peak Mountain Snowflake
designation for traction even at
50 percent worn.
"With spliceless UniCircle retreads, fleets can
take advantage
of similar new tyre
technologies and operate on retread
designs they have confidence in," said Dustin Lancy, Goodyear’s commercial
product marketing manager in the USA.
With an anticipated mid-2021 launch, these regional UniCircle retreads will be available in a number of popular sizes. The Fuel Max RSD drive tyre will initially launch in 295/75R22.5 (Load Range G), with additional sizes rolling out in 2022.
Michelin has announced that it has expanded its range of RECAMIC tread patterns for the DACH markets with the addition of a new drive axle pattern “D” for long distance haulage.
The new tread pattern, available in German speaking markets since September, is claimed to offer 15% better mileage than its predecessor, the RECAMIC XDA2 Energy, based on a rolling resistance test carried out on a 315/70 R 22.5 casing with a tread width of 270mm, as well as excellent braking and
good traction
on slippery
surfaces.
Furthermore,
the 60 series
version of the
RECAMIC
LINE D has a
convex tread
profile, which
offers an
optimised
ground
contact area and a reduction in heat generation in the shoulder area when compared with a standard tread profile. “We are well positioned in the retreading sector,” says Tobias Neumüller, Head of Retreading DACH and Scandinavia at Michelin. “The Demand for sustainable mobility in long-distance transport is constantly growing, so we introduced have a corresponding product line extension for the cold retreading segment."
Insa Turbo Launches New All-Season Tyre
TECH Launches Rope Rubber Spool Mount System
Spanish retreader Insa Turbo has announced the addition of a new all-season tyre to its range of passenger retreads. Insa Eco all season is
a new commitment to safe, ecological tyres for all months of the year.
This all-season tyre is claimed to provide safe driving 365 days a year, with high performance in snow, mud and wet conditions. It has optimal wet grip, secure
traction even at low temperatures and traction for all road
conditions.
Its wide lateral grooves improve drainage and water
expulsion performance; its special compound provides optimal grip in all weather conditions and its modern tread design provides greater
stability and better road handling.
The Insa Eco all-season tyre is available in sizes 195/65R15,
205/55R16 and 225/45R17.
TECH Tire Repairs, a wholly owned company of Technical Rubber Company (TRC), has launched a system designed to eliminate many of the pain points and challenges tyre technicians experience when repairing tyres using rope rubber and an extruder gun.
TECH’s Mobile Spool Mount allows the rope rubber spool to rotate freely which dispenses the rope rubber smooth and tangle- free into the extruder gun. The system also includes a universal mounting bracket that installs on any two-wheel hand cart. This allows the entire system to be moved from station to station, or back into cold storage.
“We heard from our retread shops that they needed a better rope rubber dispenser system,” said Tim BeVier, TECH’s National Account Business Manager in the USA. “We
noticed technicians struggling with the old bucket and box fed rubber. Those systems were extremely prone to tangling and causing a lot of headaches.”
“Shops were having a hard time keeping their rope rubber clean and up off the floor,” said Shashank Agarwal, TECH’s Senior Product Manager. “We designed our spool mount system with a dust guard to keep the rubber clean and free of contaminants.”
