Each year the organisers of the North American Tire and Retread Expo carry out a competition to determine the best looking retread among a number of entries sent in for analysis by an expert panel
Products Division at Rema Tip Top North America Inc.
The Mould Cure category this year was won for the second year in succession by Canadian Retreader Techno Pneu of Rimouski, Quebec.
Double Coin Boosts Retread Guarantee
Bridgestone Corporation has launched the expansion of its global deployment of BASys. Following its successful implementation in Europe last year, BASys is now being implemented in other regions, starting with Latin America from April 2017.
BASys is a collection of digital applications designed to track tyres throughout every step of the retreading process; from the point
of collection at the customer’s yard, all the way through manufacturing at the retread shop and final delivery.
The real-time monitoring of information at each step of the retreading process contributes to the overall improvement of production efficiency and quality. The
accumulated data also allows customers to make more accurate and informed decision on their tire selection and usage. It contributes to safety operation and tyre related cost reduction.
The combination of accumulated big data from BASys with other proprietary Bridgestone’s technologies will strengthen the company’s ability to deliver high quality products and services for the wider range of customers.
In January 2017, Bridgestone established a dedicated organisation named “Digital Solution Center” tasked with accelerating the global development and deployment of digital solutions across the value chain.

CMA’s Double Coin has enhanced its retread/casing warranty. The Chinese manufacturer made the announcement at the NATRE on April 19.
All Double Coin tyres that feature a DOT code from the first week of 2017 and newer, will qualify for a seven-year, three retread warranty. This expands upon the manufacturer’s previous warranty, which covered seven-years and two-retreads for the OptiGreen line and five-years, two retreads for all other product lines. The warranty is aimed to boost confidence in the Chinese manufactured tyres.
“We hope this give our dealers, especially those in the
retread business, the confidence and the ammunition when they’re talking to their fleet customers to promote the quality of the Double Coin casing,“ said Walt Weller, senior vice president of strategic accounts at CMA.
Many retreaders have had trouble accepting Chinese- made tyres for retreading, and Double Coin hopes this new warranty will help combat that feeling, Weller said. The manufacturer also hopes the new warranty will differentiate Double Coin as a quality Chinese tyre manufacturer. The new retread/casing warranty is available across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Central America.
