ANNOUNCE MOU TO PROMOTE RETREADING ON CONTI CASINGS

Indian tread manufacturer Indag Rubber has signed an MoU with leading tyre manufacturer Continental Tires to promote the second life of tyres. Promoted under the banner of the Indag- Continental strategic alliance, retreading services will be provided to TBR Normal Load (NL) fleets.
As part of the collaboration, Continental will offer a second life war- ranty on NL casings under the Conti Bharosa programme, whilst In- dag will offer a warranty on the retreading process and on the tread rubber. The MoU signed in January, 2023 does not mention any time limit for the cooperation agreement.
When asked about the mileage guaranteed on casing and retread, Vijay Shrinivas, CEO, Indag Rubber Ltd., explained, “It always varies by application, however, Conti offers a most robust casing compara- tively, which is built for multiple retreads. However as per the Conti Bharosa programme, Continental offers a warranty against manufac- turing defects in specified tyre casings for a period of 5 years including the first retreading.”
The scheme, which is confined to Conti branded casings in specific applications, will be offered through select ‘Indag Certified Retread- er’, who have undergone regular audits of their retreading process, equipment and products.
“Continental tyres are known for their offering of a strong casing
which is built for multiple retreads,” explained Shrinivas. “The collabo- ration with Indag will help them to communicate in the market to pro- mote retreading as an alternative to improve tyre life.”
COOPERATION TO STRENGTHEN INDAG BRAND
The cooperation is also expected to further strengthen the Indag brand in the highly competitive domestic market by helping to differentiate tread brands that focus on quality retreads which meet the parameters of international OEMs like Continental.
“The association with such a renowned global brand will further strengthen the brand value of Indag,” explained Shrinivas. “Con- tinental is considered to be one of the most quality-conscious tyre manufacturers globally. The association with Continental will help us to emphasise our core values and provide fleet own- ers with world-class retreading solutions. The fact that Conti has chosen an Indian tread producer for this collaboration vindi- cates our decision to always make quality work the first priority of Indag.”
