Chennai based retreader General Tyres launched its own tyre care                      - ce by monitoring tyre performance at regular intervals.
“The app that we designed is working fabulously well and aiding           now have become aware that tyre itself constitutes the second hi- ghest operational expense after fuel; and with just basic care and appointing staff for tyre maintenance they can cut their new tyre purchases by half. That would help add on tremendous liquidity in working capital; which is the need at the moment,” explained Geor- ge Mathew, Director, General Tyres Group.
General Tyres Group is a leading retreader in Chennai, Capital of the South Indian state of Tamilnadu. General Tyres has four retrea- ding plants located at prime areas in and around Chennai city. The company undertakes precured retreading of all sizes of tyres (Ra- dial & Bias Ply) for Truck Buses and Light Commercial vehicles. The         -      
The company is now planning to introduce and will soon implemen-            the logistics segment. “TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring Sensors) is also long overdue for launch due to the pandemic, but we are targe- ting to launch the same within the next 6 months; whereby issues             etc.. will be avoidable.”
On the subject of any plan of buying any new machinery showcased           -

We would also like to understand the capabilities of the machines to com-          pressures and temperature logging in the job cards; which will help us raise appropriate alarms at the instance of an error and help im- prove our quality standard even further.” The company says it is also considering experimenting with robotic arms where in one machine would be capable of performing most of the processes.
On investing in new sites, he said; “As cities expand we have to move along with the transport companies, and such plans to explore into new areas are constantly being considered. But then again, the pandemic has hampered a lot of these plans, which we are swiftly getting back to.”
