Vikrant Cold Retread Upgrades as Indag Certified Retreader
In order to upgrade its existing but promising franchisee retread outlets, Indag has introduced the Indag Certified Retreader (ICR) network. Once a retreader achieves certain parameters set by Indag, it will be promoted as an ICR outlet. The tread rubber brand offer materials, marketing and technical support to the ICR business activities besides allowing franchisees to use the company’s premium rubber line.

arranged a site visit for Retreading Business to one of its ICRs in Rewari (Haryana) about 70 kms from Delhi on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. The ICR Vikrant Cold Retread first forayed into retreading in 2007 but graduated as an ICR in March 2019.
“We are now using the Indag premier liner ICON, which is authorised to be sold through ICRs only. It is 5% higher price- wise but gives an additional mileage of 30% compared to the standard liner offered by
the company,” informed Kulvinder Yadav of Vikrant Cold Retread.
The retreader says it has received positive feedback for ICON from the market. ““We only offer ICON to customers on demand as it is a premium priced product.” The premium liner is only for the 1000/20 size for long haul trailer, available both for bias and radial range. The site also offers other premium range RRR & RRR Star treads for radial tyres. The site operates on KMT equipment, is installed with a 4-tyre autoclave and retreads on an average 500 tyres each month. Production drops in the winter due to the severe cold but picks-up in the summer.
As part of further expanding the capacity, Vikrant says it is considering installing an additional 6-tyre autoclave and buffer. “The expansion depends on the market, which is still slow and likely to improve post March in the new fiscal. We are expecting improvement in the market scenario after the first quarter of 2020. New equipment would be installed at an appropriate time.”
