TREADS
Galgo PRE-Q Introduces New Severe Drive Performance (SDP) Tread
Galgo PRE-Q Features Seasonal Tread Designs for European Market
Galgo PRE-Q has expanded its range of products for severe applications by developing the new Severe Drive Performance (SDP) tread.
This tread is made with a compound with high resistance to cuts and penetrations and features self- cleaning and stone ejection capability. Its design makes it ideal for use in dirt at low speeds, and it is highly recommended for vehicles carrying very heavy loads. The SDP
tread comes in a width of 241 mm (9 4/8”) and a depth of 22.2 mm (28/32”), and is an excellent choice when safety and durability are a must.
Galgo PRE-Q has a variety of products ideal for this season of the year. For highway applications, the company offers tread designs specially developed for super wide tyres and free axles.
The Super Single Trailer Wide (STW) tread has seven ribs and features wider solid shoulders and a rounded contour that offers low resistance to lateral drag and low rolling resistance. The Super Single Rib Light (SRL) tread has rounded shoulders and it’s a very light tread. In addition, both tread designs provide high resistance to irregular wear.
For urban applications, Galgo has developed the Pick Up and Delivery Light Truck (PDL) tread, which is designed with “rock ejectors” (elements positioned at the bottom of its central grooves), and lateral blocks that provide enhanced stability in vehicles commonly used for local pickups and deliveries.
For mixed applications Galgo recommends the Light Aggressive Traction (LTD) tread. Designed with a chip and cut resistant compound, the LTD features wide blocks that provide superior traction and self-cleaning.
New Treads from Nokian
K718 and K818 Now Available in All Widths
The latest addition to the Nokian Noktop tyre range of treads is the Nokian Noktop 75 Super, which has a tyre tread design similar to the on/off- road trailer tyre Nokian R-Truck Trailer. “Nokian Noktop 75 Super is meant for retreading wide super single trailer tyres used in heavy earthmoving, timber transport and other applications on and off the road”, commented Nokian’s Teppo Siltanen. “The new tread pattern has been optimised for local and medium haul on rough surfaces.”
The new retreads fit on casings in sizes 385/65R22.5 and 385/55R22.5. Featuring 3PMSF markings, these treads have good self-cleaning properties on soft surfaces. Replacing the old Nokian Noktop 63 Super, the new retreading materials were scheduled to be available in early 2019.
Later this year, there will be also new treads for 265/70R19.5 and 275/70R22.5 casings for dual tyre fitting.
Kraiburg Austria has announced that it has added the missing widths from its K718 and K818 designs, thereby making the two patterns now available in all widths. The K718 traction design is now available in 280 millimetres in addition to the 260 and 270 millimetre widths – both in the K_base and in the K_plus versions. The long-distance pattern offers maximum mileage, low fuel consumption and optimum traction as well as assuring top performance
in combination with the K818 trailer design.
With 380 and 390 millimetre dimensions for uses in the Super- Single range, the K818 series has now also been completed and is available in the K_tech and K_plus versions. The longitudinal K818 convinces with high stability, extremely good adherence and excellent resistance. It also helps to save fuel and therefore improves the tyre’s CO2 balance.
