      THE TIRE
Eastern Treads Seeks Further Expansion in Europe
has been emerging in its domestic market in India, not just as a tread supplier, but as a solution provider, offering a wide range of services to its local customers. This is the same approach the company now wants to bring to its international business.
“This means that anything that the retreader can possibly need, he can just call us and get it. If he wants some raw materials, including for example some under Michelin brand, he is welcome to engage me. This is kind of a strategy that we are looking to apply to in Europe,” Nair said.
Thanks to this strategy, the company has strong position on the domestic market. At the same time, Nair admitted that Eastern Treads has only started making its first steps in that direction in Europe and it is hard to say, whether or not it would also be feasible here.
In general, Eastern Treads wants to bring to the European retreading markets only premium products that have the best quality, according to Nair. The keystone of the company’s program is that it wants to be best in the price-quality ratio amongst all suppliers.
Eastern Treads intends to strengthen its position on the international tyre rubber market, by increasing sales in Europe, according to Naveen Nair, the Manager of International Business of Eastern Treads. The

company believes that the geographical location of its production facilities is an important competitive advantage.
“Our company is based in Southern India, the region that supplies up to 80 per cent of the natural rubber to the world’s market. Our home region is delivering natural rubber all over the world and plays an important role in
controlling the price in the global market of natural rubber. So, this is the place we are from,” Nair said. Thus, it seems quite logical that some competitive supplies of rubber products with higher added value, such as, for example, tyre treads
reflects the desire of the company to have a better recognition in Europe. “We aim to scale up our operating in Europe. We already own a warehouse in Europe and basically, we are interested in building a long- term sustainable cooperation with local customers. We are planning some actions for that, and participating in the exhibitions is just the first step on that road,” Nair explained.
Already today, Eastern Treads has an impressive international order book, supplying its products to Latin America, the U.S. and Africa, according to Nair.
Over recent years, Eastern Treads
