      THE TIRE
As a group that offers highly technical rubber products, the quality of Ever Compound is amongst the best in the worls and finds its way into mould cure retread and tyre production, but also into mountings, gaskets and seals for some of the best- known equipment manufacturers in the world.
Ever Compounds are currently exported to many countries around the world and were at the show to further increase their trading profile and explain to
interested visitors at the stand the high level of expertise they are able to present including custom-made compounds for retreading and ever y other sector of the automotive industry. Cortesi told Retreading Business, “This special retreading area at the show has been successful for Ever Compounds as it has enabled us to promote our products and services to a lot of potential new customers.”
productivity, compared to those that require manual labor. In the same way, the company has designed some new brushing machinery with an increased automation level and hence, increased productivity.
“In our machinery we are working on hardware, but we are also not forgetting about the software. On this direction, we are designing machines that are able to communicate with
each other. For example, today we are working at what we call “level 2” of communication. When the buffer buffs a tyre, then it is scanned by a laser in order to create a tyre profile. After that, the profile is sent to the other machines, which would recognise the tyre and automatically define all its parameters. All in all, this increases the efficiency of the whole plant,” Brunelli said.

TRM Shifts from Selling Machinery
to Providing Solutions
TRM did not bring any machinery to The Tire Cologne 2018. That is quite unusual for a tyre equipment supplier, but there is some reasonable background behind this move. TRM no longer supplies just the machinery, but it provides its customers with comprehensive technological solutions for their businesses, according to Jacopo Brunelli, the spokesperson for the company.
“Most machinery suppliers have a common scheme of working with their customers. They have the machine that they can install at the production facility and that’s it. What we are trying to do with our customers is that we are not only providing the machines, but we are doing much more; for example; arranging training of how to operate
consumables, and has a broad experience in operating retreading equipment, that it is ready to share.
“We can provide the equipment for all the retreading phases, including inspection, buffing and building for all segments, including mould cure and precure, for passenger tyres and truck tyres etc. We provide solutions basing on the experience of the Marangoni Group. This involves technical specialists and rubber experts who can consult clients about, for example, which rubber is better for sidewalls and which is better for tread,” Brunelli said.
And the technicians who already have an experience in operating the equipment can consult the clients in the event that they have a problem. “So, we did not bring any machines in
Having been a long-standing exhibitor at all major European tyre shows, leading international retreading specialist Kraiburg supported the new Tire Cologne Show to once again showcase their innovative product portfolio. Taking centre-stage on the company’s 156 square metre stand were the three latest tyre tread designs for Traction, Trailer and Buses which form part of Kraiburg’s current pattern programme of sixty designs. Retreading Business sat down with Holger Dux, Director of Sales & Marketing, during the course of the show, and he explained that the K718 – Long Distance High Traction tread, which was making its debut in Europe, offers a number of important benefits including exceptional running performance, low fuel consumption and optimum traction.
Dux said, “A special K-plus compound makes this design a long lasting and economical asset in long distance truck driving, which gives a highly impressive rolling profile due to constant interruption of the tread blocks by sipes. Quite simply, the K718 is an all-season retreaded tyre that performs well in winter conditions and ensures outstanding grip on wet, snow-covered and steep road surfaces.” This drive pattern is currently available in a 260- millimetre width with additional widths to be introduced in the next few months.
Also attracting a lot of interest was
the K818 Trailer Pattern, which incorporates a special shoulder geometry to relieve the load on the shoulder under lateral shearing forces, plus a unique groove design, which effectively reduces the entrapment of stones and cracks in the tread base. Dux added, “The compound has been specifically adapted for long distance driving and guarantees cool and smooth running which is ideal for trailers, semi-trailers and tag axles.” The K818 is adapted for use with the K718 and is available in 320-millimetre width with more options to follow in due course. Finally, the K702 Bus tread pattern was introduced around eighteen months ago with the main benefits being high traction, a long service life and low running costs. Holger Dux told Retreading Business “With special shoulder geometry the robustness of the sidewall has been increased and this special bus design can also be used on regional and cross-countr y journeys and is currently available in width options 230, 240 and 260 millimetres.
“At the same time as showcasing our current product base, we have used the event as an important meeting point for our customers to chat with them and find out what their retreading needs will be in the future.”
    them,” Brunelli said.
TRM is focused now on providing a “complete offer” of services to the retreaders. This is a new business concept that is aiming to make the lives of its customers, especially new ones, much easier. On this direction, TRM is taking advantage of being a part of Marangoni Group. The parent company for TRM offers a wide range of various raw materials and
order that the customers would not focus on the machinery, because now we are offering the full package of services,” Brunelli explained.
In addition, TRM has been also putting some effort to increase the automation level of its machines. This includes the designing and introduction of various robotic parts. TRM estimated that a robotised buffer has 30 per cent increased
