higher prices and better products.” The company was scouting for dealers at the show. “India is a vast country and we are looking for
dealers or agents who could promote our products in all regions of the country,” he said.
SingEx has announced cooperation with China United Rubber Corporation (CURC), the organisers of Rubbertech China, to expand the scope and size of the Indian edition of Tyrexpo. Now, the idea is to hold both shows together in India during Tyrexpo.
RubberTech is being run by CURC in China, Vietnam, Thailand and Germany. An MoU was signed during the Chennai show, between SingEx Holdings and CURC to bring exhibitors and visitors to the show. “Our cooperation is confined to the India and South Africa editions. If we get a positive response, it may be further extended to Tyrexpo UK and Tyrexpo Asia at a later stage,” said Wei Yun, Chairman, China United Rubber Corporation in an interaction with Retreading
Business.
On bringing exhibitors to India, Wei Yun confirmed, “We are bringing at least 50 exhibitors to the next edition of Tyrexpo India in Delhi,” The cooperation between SingEx and RubberTech would appear to be inevitable as the Indian edition has not been growing as per SingEx’s expectation considering the large size of the Indian tyre and rubber industry. It is hoped that the MoU with RubberTech will give the show a new lease of life.
Meanwhile, dates for Tyrexpo Delhi 2018 are yet to be announced due to the cooperation announced with RubberTech China. “We are working on the dates along with RubberTech and are likely to make an announcement in August,” said the organisers.
Tripura Retreader Expanding Equipment and Rubber Business
Radial Tyres Transforming Indian Market says Salvadori
Italian retreading and recycling equipment maker Salvadori SRL finds the Indian market is slowly heading towards quality products. “We are very much positive about Salvadori’s prospects in the Indian market, considering our premium product range,” said Marco Favazza from Salvadori SRL’s Sales Department, representing the equipment maker at Tyrexpo 2017 at Chennai.
On the positive changes, the company has observed that brings optimism towards the Indian market, Favazza commented, “It’s the increasing popularity of radial tyres in India, which shows the
market is shifting towards higher priced products.”
Salvadori is working on developing the Indian market for tyre repair and retreading products. “India is a huge untapped market for us, and retread plants are located in every part of the country. It could be a good future market for us,” he said.
Though Salvadori product is priced at the premium end of the market, Favazza is confident about the company’s prospects. “Our prices may often be considered slightly high for this market, but people here have started understanding the logical connection between
planning to market retread plant machinery aggressively in Tripura and other adjoining states. We have started sourcing equipment from Rajmahaal and are supplying in the state market,” he informed.
A prominent retreader in the North- Eastern State of Tripura is expanding into selling retreading plant and equipment in the region. Shanti Traders, who have a plant at Durjoynagar Airport Road in Agartala, Capital of Tripura, retread around 250 truck tyres each month. “We forayed into the trading of tread rubber few years ago, but now our focus is on sourcing plant equipment from South India
for selling in the Tripura and other adjoining states,” informed Sankar Seal of Shanti Traders during Tyrexpo India 2017 in Chennai.
Agartala is the second largest city in North-East India after Guwahati (Assam capital), both in municipal area and population. The city is the seat of the Government of Tripura.
Shanti Traders is one of the biggest buyers of Midas
Tread in the North East, regularly sourcing around 21 tonnes each month. “Our plant consumes around 2.2 tonnes and the rest we sell in the open market to various retreaders in the state,” he said.
The Agartala based retread
plant started operation in 1990, produces around 250 truck tyres each month. It has been installed with a six-tyre chamber sourced from Coimbatore based Rajmahaal. On the size of the Agartala market, Seal said, “Tripura is a small hilly state, and most of the industrial
activity is in the capital Agartala. Around 1,000 tyres are retreaded each month in the small market of Agartala. There are around 40 retreading units in the whole state with 12 units in Agartala itself,” he elaborated.
With industrial activity gaining pace in the North-Eastern state, retreading units are expected to expand in the near future. “We are
