The company does not sell Chinese tyres. “That is a deliberate move as we only sell good quality brands and not the low priced Chinese brands to further spoil the market,” he emphasized.
On the association with Apollo Tyres he said, “We initially started selling Apollo Tyre tread rubber in the market but later on opened a retread franchise, therefore, our relation is more than decade old.” Anand Tyres is among the organised retreaders operating in Chennai and is one of the the first
to implement service tax in the retreading sector. “With the GST implemented in the countr y, the small unorganised retreaders are also coming under its net, and the move will bring price parity in the business,” emphasised Chowdhari.
When asked about expansion plans in retreading, he replied, “We are keen on opening more plants of similar size, but we are waiting for the GST to settle down and the market to stabilise first.” All three plants are installed with Rajmahaal equipment.
Glisen Equipment Pvt Ltd. Glisen has been one of the regular exhibitors at the Tyrexpo series in India and Singapore.
The company can provide fully automated buffing lines, with provision of weighing, poly- wrapping and packing of tread. Glisen is also among the consistent exporters of retreading machinery to the neighbouring South East Asian and African markets.
“We have recently shipped one
retreading plant each to Bangladesh and Ethiopia, and both are expected to be commissioned by next month,” Sarcar said.
The equipment maker continues working on new ideas and aims to bring out more innovative products for the Indian and overseas markets.
“Bringing new products is a continuous process with us,” said Sarcar. “Our next project is to bring out equipment for the lighter segment of the OTR market.”
Glisen Launches Tread Buffing Line
Coimbatore based Glisen Equipments Pvt Ltd has launched a PLC controlled tread buffing line. The new line, developed to international standards, has a 4- head system operating with an up and down cutting movement to give excellent results. With a single pass, the tread is buffed.
In the domestic market, there are machines from popular brands available with one head, which
requires the tread to pass more than once, sometimes even three times to get better results. According to Glisen, this scrapes the tread and removes excess rubber in the process, even becoming ineffective when buffing the tread of a lug design (traction). “We have already supplied two lines in the domestic market, one of them has started operation recently,” informed Sushil Sarcar of
