Vacu-Lug’s WZY2 truck tyre features an enhanced sidewall protection system
 KRAIBURG Extends 3PMSF Product Range
245/70R17.5 WZY2 has been manufactured to provide operators with extra protection against kerb wear.
Vacu-Lug states that it has developed the product to provide a practical alternative to traditional solid sidewall protectors; these are susceptible to weaknesses within their design if too rigid, leading to unwanted heat build- up, and increased rates of abrasion, due to their inability to deflect from impact with solid surfaces. The new tyre is designed with additional sidewall protection and comprises five ribs moulded into the upper sidewall of the tyre. This provides greater flexibility and abrasion resistance to provide the maximum overall protection possible against kerb wear, whilst its design allows heat to dissipate more effectively. The material used to create the sidewall protection is a new compound formulation which is highly cut and tear resistant.
This tyre has all the same tread features as Vacu-Lug’s current WZY2
The "3PMSF" (Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake) tyre symbol has been certifying enhanced traction and braking action for a good year now because it is now linked under ECE- 109 R Annex 10 for the first time with a performance text on retreads and says far more than the classic "M+S" based on classifications devised by the manufacturers. Kraiburg Austria has subjected seven more winter patterns to a 3PMSF test in order to enhance the competitiveness of truck retreads. The designs in question were the K47, K54, K207, K208, K224, K701 and the K702. The results are claimed to
be impressive: all the Kraiburg patterns demonstrate at least 25 per cent better traction than the standard reference tyre – and have therefore also earned the snowflake symbol. "Our quality materials guarantee performance and safety," said Christoph Priewasser, Kraiburg’s Product Manager. "We are delighted that we now have a recognised symbol to prove the quality of our products. Our retreaders can, of course, look up the detailed test re¬sults at any time on our website and contact our Technical Service Centre as usual if they have any other questions."

as the tread pattern has not been scaled down for the smaller 17.5” tyre. Instead, it has deliberately been kept at full scale to give the best overall performance.
The AcuTread Alliance Group has announced that two of its treads are now verified under the provisions of the Federal EPA SmartWay programme. The newly certified patterns are the Michigan based company’s 445/50 STT1 13/32nd Trailer/Drive Tread and the SAT 17/32nd Trailer/Drive Tread.

Jon Langerak President/CEO added; “we are proud and excited with the advancements and growth we are having in our industry with these remanufactured products.” The AcuTread Alliance Group manufactures and distributes tyres from locations in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia as well as through a network of dealer associates.
Giti Tire has renamed its UK retread programme Giti Genesis as part of its European truck and bus rebranding project. Originally known as GT REE- Tread, the next-generation products will keep the continuity of hot cure bead-to-bead retread tyres only manufactured using Giti casings. Retreading will be conducted in partnership with a leading UK-based operation. Giti Genesis is available in two patterns: the GDR690 regional drive axle tyre is available in 295/80R22.5, 315/70R22.5 and 315/80R22.5; the GTR990 regional trailer tyre is offered in size 385/65R22.5.
Giti states that the programme aims to lower costs for operators and reduce the environmental impact of tyres. Tony McHugh, TBR sales and marketing director UK at Giti Tire, said: “Since we launched our first retread tyre in 2012 we have proven that the programme delivers tangible benefits to operators who want the lowest price-per-kilometre without sacrificing reliability and safety.
“By utilising our casings’ proven integrity and retreadability, both patterns offer excellent traction, optimal mileage performance and resistance to damage and impacts which has put them very much in demand.
“Giti Genesis tyres are being prepared for market with our exceptional new partner, they remain an integral element of our full-service offering and
we very much look forward to their full debut at the CV Show 2017 alongside our new Giti portfolio.”
Giti Genesis will join the first phase of the company’s Giti branded truck and bus tyre range, with 20 patterns making their European debut. The brand will be pitched at the same level – the top of the mid-tier segment, Giti states – with extensive value-added service support.
