There is a growing trend towards the modernisation of retreading plants in India, with an increasing number of retreaders showing an interest in phasing out old equipment and replacing it with the latest machinery in the market.
Super India Tyre is a fairly large operation with a focus on OTR and JCB tyres. It retreads more than 300 tractor and JCB tyres as well as 300 TBR tyres each month. “Chalisgaon has large farm holdings and the region has a large

Novo Paraíso Recapagens Joins Tipler Network
The latest retreader to join the Tipler network is Novo Paraíso Recapagens from Vitória do Conquista (BA), who operate in the South-West Bahia region of Brazil.
With a history stretching back 40 years, Novo Paraíso decided to switch to a strong brand that always operates in conjunction with the retreader.
According to company’s co- owner, Isac Azevedo Magalhães,
the decision to switch to Tipler was taken for several reasons. "Among them, with Tipler you can count on high-performance products that generate higher profitability to the carrier and competitiveness to the retreader. We are also able to act in the way we think most appropriate thanks to the freedom that Tipler provides to the dealer,” he commented.
This is expected to go a long way towards improving the quality standards in retreading in the countr y.
An example of this is Chalisgaon based Super India Tyre, which is planning to modernise its retreading unit with the latest machinery in the business.
“We have decided to phase out the old machinery and install a whole new plant,” said K V Suresh of Super India Tyre at Tyrexpo India. “We are looking for completely computerised plant machinery along with a monorail system,” he added.
tractor tyre base,” said Suresh. The factor y retreads tractor and JCB by the hot process and truck and bus tyres by both conventional and precure systems. About two-thirds of TBR retread production is handled using the pre-cure process.
Interestingly, Super India Tyre also manufactures conventional rubber at a unit in Kannur in Kerala. It has a small operation and produces 10 tonnes each month for its Chalisgaon plant. Pre-cure tread is sourced from companies like Midas and Indag.
Conti Rationalises Tread Production
TRIB Launches Spanish and Portuguese Videos with Sponsorship of Vipal
Continental has rationalised the production of ContiTread treads. They are now being made in São Leopoldo (RS) by Unique Rubber with the designs of the original tyres of the German brand and compounds previously approved by Continental. The bands are used by Best Drive retreaders. According to Continental, these treads maintain the low fuel consumption characteristics, durability, water flow capacity and power to drive the truck tyres of the brand itself.
Best Drive has been in operation for over a year. It is the first Continentalretreader in South America. It is located in Mogi das
Cruzes (SP), and has the capacity to retread 1500 tyres per month for trucks and buses and has been designed taking into account a possible expansion of up to 5000 units per month with the same machiner y.
With a volume of 8.8 million retreaded truck tyres per year, Brazil is the second largest market segment, behind the United States. According to the Brazilian Association of Tyre Retreading segment (ABR), the industr y annual turnover of about $ 5 billion, has more than 1200 commercial tyre retreaders, 18 suppliers of raw materials and generates more than 40,000 jobs.
The Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) has joined forces with Vipal Rubber to launch two new videos in Spanish and Portuguese. The first video explains the environmental benefits of tyre retreading and the second video explains the trues causes of rubber on our roads. The videos can be viewed on the Video section of TRIB's website TRIB's YouTube Channel, and will also be displayed
and distributed at the many trade shows TRIB attends where Spanish and Portuguese materials are in demand.
“TRIB has numerous member companies throughout Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries and they have often requested materials from us in these languages" said TRIB Managing Director, David Stevens. “Now, our members in those countries have additional
