Retreads Saved Italy 69.1 Million Euro
In 2015 the use of retreaded tyres in Italy is estimated to have saved the end users 69.1 million Euro. This is the conclusion arrived at by AIRP (Italian Tyre Retreaders Association,) on the basis of data relating to the economic and ecological balance of the tyre retreading in Italy in 2015. The use of retreads, in addition to the advantage in terms of cost for the end user, also allows savings in energy and raw materials. By AIRP accounting Italy reduced its ELT by 25,920
tonnes through retreading.
In addition, the tyre industr y used 21,600 tonnes fewer raw materials and saw a reduction in energy consumption of 29.4 million litres of oil and its equivalents.
The environmental importance of retreaded tyres was then measured in terms of reduced CO2 emissions into the environment: the result is that, again in 2015, through the use of retreaded tyres 25,920 tons of CO2 were prevented from entering the atmosphere.
