Pereira, the quality of Vipal’s product and service are of vital importance to the retreader and this action is meant to further reinforce the relationship between the two companies. “This year, with the partnership we’ve developed with certain retreaders and our technical and business action plans, São Mamede chose to put the Vipal brand in its visual identity,” says the Manager of Vipal
Europe, Alessandro Campos.
In addition to visually communicating its partnership with Vipal, the project includes awareness actions for transport companies. The service, provided by Vipal’s own team, promotes the financial and environmental benefits of tyre retreading, and emphasises that, when the brand’s products are used, fleet owners spend less on fuel.

Green Meets Green
On pages 66 and 67 of issue 74 (2015/3) of Retreading Business we published an article “New Tread Patterns from Kraiburg” in which we made an error during the layout process by mixing part of the previous article, an article relating to Marangoni tread patterns, in with the text from Kraiburg. We apologise to both Kraiburg and Marangoni for the error. The complete and correct article from Kraiburg is reprinted below:

Vipal Strengthens Partnership with Portuguese Retreader
During 2015 Vipal carried out a series of relationship and communications actions aimed at developing its relationships with a number of European clients and increasing the visibility of the Vipal brand. Originally starting in Spain, the project now includes one more partner, the retreader São Mamede, located in the city of Guimarães, near Oporto, Portugal.
São Mamede has long been a partner of Vipal, and was a client even before the Brazilian retread materials manufacturer opened its European office in 2005. For its owners, Jorge and Eugenio
4JET Scannect Tracks Your Tyres
4JET Technologies GmbH has developed its latest state of the art Scannect solution.
Scannect (short for “scan and connect”) offers the possibility to easily and comprehensively trace tyres throughout their whole lifetime. A QR Code is applied on the tyre sidewall using the 4JET black-on-black laser engraving technology. Using the special 4JET marking strategy, the QR Code can be read with industrial reading devices as well as normal Smartphone cameras.
In the area of “SCAN”, 4JET has developed a unique reading algorithm for Smartphone Apps, which can read and display all the information inside the QR Codes. The combination of individual marking and Internet
connectivity facilitates the “Internet of Tyres”: For the first time, tyre and retread manufacturers have the potential to directly connect with their end customers – in the commercial as well as the private tyre business.
In an industrial environment, QR Codes can be read using handheld industrial ID Readers or stationary sensor systems to read directly inline.
