Bandvulc Contract Provides More Value to Viridor
Vipal Celebrates 14 years of Partnership with Jamaican Companies
UK retreader Bandvulc and Viridor recently signed a new three year contract which will see Bandvulc take control of the Viridor fleet across the South West region from Cornwall, Wales, up to and including West Sussex until March 2018, with circa 300 vehicles including trade waste collection, bulk waste transfer, and wet waste. Phil West, Bandvulc Director, said “We are delighted to extend our tyre agreement with Viridor, a strong local company at a time
assist drivers with their daily checks. This is seen as a major benefit to Viridor, as operating in the waste management sector means that tyres will inevitably get damaged and have a high exposure to punctures. Bandvulc’s nominated service providers will fit tyres selected from the Bandvulc range and will have tailored pattern selection according to the various applications required by the vehicle. By selecting a different steer pattern tyre for
when their business is going through transition from landfill towards transfer, recovery and further recycling operations.” The contract extension included new added value features, including the addition of Bandvulc’s own fleet inspector, who is a highly experienced casing inspector and will now regularly visit Viridor sites throughout the South-West of the UK. His remit is to assist with compliance. However, the high level of experience the casing inspector has will enable Bandvulc to provide valuable feedback on ‘in service’ tyre condition.
Throughout the previous contract, the way in which Bandvulc works with Viridor has evolved, and this means, as part of the new contract, Bandvulc will be introducing a number of tyre trials to help Viridor make further improvements to their fleet, including trialing a number of tyre pressure monitoring systems or devices to assist with detecting tyres in an underinflated condition to
the trade waste vehicles, Bandvulc claims to have seen tyre life extended by more than 30 per cent.
Viridor’s Gary Elms stated, “Our relationship with Bandvulc goes from strength to strength and with their expertise and back up services, we look forward to continuing to work with Bandvulc across our fleet”, Gary Elms went on to say, “We are excited by some current product trials and innovations that are taking place across several parts of our fleet, and it is anticipated these products will increase tyre life providing Viridor with improved operating efficiencies.”
Viridor recently acquired the business of Commercial Recycling Ltd and we were able to simply adopt this operation into the tyre contract. This gives Viridor a platform to integrate the fleet should it expand as their business develops.
Vipal Rubber is currently celebrating a 14-year partnership with two public companies in Jamaica, the retreader Jamaica Ultimate Tyre Company and the public transportation company Jamaica Urban Transit Company Limited (JUTC).
JUTC was created by the Jamaican government in 1998, as part of the strategy of offering affordable and safe transportation to its passengers. The JUTC fleet consists of 570 buses, which use Vipal’s VZA80 tread and retreads on about 200 tyres per month with the Jamaica Ultimate Tyre
Company. Kenry Jackson, the company’s General Manager, believes that keeping this partnership is key.
For Vipal, achieving this kind of recognition from the government is crucial. “When companies in the public transportation industry have been using tyres retreaded with our products for over 14 years, that is the best evidence of the quality and safety they provide,” says Vipal’s Commercial Manager in the United States, Frederico Schmidt.
   Sustrend Changes Leadership

Campo has ceased to be part of the company and with immediate effect Mr Dario Andreani González, Chairman, will be responsible for the management of the company.
In a statement Andreani said, “This does not constitute any changes in the current strategy of the company, nor in contracts or agreements
made, as we will continue to work in pursuit of the goals established since the beginning of our relationship.”
