100,000th Technician
Michelin Americas Truck Tires, a division of Michelin North America, Inc., has announced that Fleet Tire will join the Michelin Commercial Service Network (MCSN). Fleet Tire operates its commercial/retail locations in Knoxville, Tenn., with five state-of-the-art service trucks and six TIA-certified service specialists. As part of the MCSN, Fleet Tire will offer a complete range of services, including repairs, routine service, diagnostics, inspection, alignments,
network's collective service level for fleets located in or travelling
through the region." The Michelin
Commercial Service Network is designed to help fleets
maximise uptime and ensure consistent, high-quality service from a nationwide franchise network. The addition of Fleet Tire brings the MCSN to approximately 600 locations across the United States. Through this network, Michelin provides fleet customers with a comprehensive service package, including online reporting, Michelin OnCall ERS, Michelin Tire Care tyre- monitoring program, and access to
skilled technicians and professional equipment, all of which are backed by rigorous certification and audit standards. Fleet Tire will provide professional service to commercial customers with Michelin, BFGoodrich and Uniroyal products that include commercial truck,
motor home and trailer, and passenger/light truck tyres. Fleet Tire has also offered Michelin Retread Technologies products since 1999. "The Michelin Commercial Service Network programme gives fleets confidence that their needs will be met professionally with an emphasis on their bottom line," said Jerry Linginfelter, president of Fleet Tire. "We are proud to be the newest MCSN member as well as an integral part of the Knoxville community. We believe in being a good community citizen by contributing to a wide range of charitable programmes in the area."
The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has trained its 100,000th tyre technician since the inception of its training programmes in 1997. Franklin Clark, a mechanic with Black's Tire in Whiteville, N.C. earned his CTS 300 Level Certification in mid-October and helped TIA to reach this significant milestone. The CTS course was taught by Certified CTS Instructor, William Humphrey, also with Black's Tire. The 100,000 milestone includes all employees who were formally trained through the Association's programmes in automotive, commercial, earthmover, farm and industrial tyre service. The figure includes technicians certified through classroom and hands-on instruction and technicians who
completed basic technician training using the traditional workbook/video format. It does not include those trained using TIA's online university.
"We are amazed by the number of companies that have made safety a priority in recent years. It is incredibly rewarding to know that our training is saving lives each and every day. However, there are still thousands of untrained technicians on the job and that's just an accident or a lawsuit waiting to happen. We want to encourage all tyre service providers to implement some type of technician training programme to ensure their employees can make it home safely at the end of the day," said Kevin Rohlwing, TIA Senior Vice President of Training.
Michelin OnCall 24/7/365 emergency road service (ERS), and Michelin Tire Care preventative tyre monitoring for fleets needing service and tyres in the busy I-40, I-75, and I-81 highway area.
"As our newest member to the Michelin Commercial Service Network family, Fleet Tire has had a 28-year-long relationship with Michelin providing quality service for our Eastern Tennessee fleet customers," said Ralph Dimenna, chief operating officer for Michelin Americas Truck Tires Division. "The addition of Michelin OnCall and Michelin Tire Care to Fleet Tire's portfolio of services will amplify the
