                     SOS Tires to Foray into Passenger Tyre Retreading

Finland based Nokian Tyres is continuing its focus on expanding its market reach in its specialty area of winter tyres. Russia is among Nokian’s key markets and it continues to be the Finnish company’s growth market. “We have almost doubled our business in Russia. Our customer base has surged from 6 to 11 in the Russian market,” said Ari Maunula, Business Manager, Truck Tyres, in a discussion with Retreading Business at the North American Tire & Tread Expo in New Orleans.
Nokian Tyres has a tyre manufacturing plant in Russia and it has been extensively promoting its
retreading material in that market. “We have been faring strongly on the retreading material side in the Russian market. Russia is a going to be a key market for the near future as it has one of the biggest growth potentials,” he added.
Commenting on the success in the Russian and Scandinavian markets, Maunula stressed, “We continue to enhance our range based customer feedback to ensure we meet user needs along with quick and reliable deliveries.”
Nokian Noktop retreading materials have been developed against the background of a unique insight into
its two plants. The mother plant is located in the Eastern Brazil state of Bahia on the Atlantic coast.
The company caters largely to the North and Eastern part of Brazil, and currently the majority of the company’s truck and bus tyres are retreaded at the first plant with partial production shifted to the new plant.
