Second place was awarded $2,500 and went to Allied Oil & Tire, Co. (of Michelin Retread
Technologies) of Omaha, Neb., with a Michelin North America, Inc. casing size 445/50R 22.5 Custom Mold XTA.
Third place won $1,000 and was awarded to Centre Techno Pneu, Inc. (associated with Borrachas Vipal S/A.), of Rimouski, Quebec. Their prize-winning tyre was retreaded on a Continental tyre of casing size 11 R 22.5, with a Vipal VT 180 tread.

  Elgi Acquires Cincinatti
Retread Systems
Elgi Rubber Company have announced the acquisition of the USA based retreading equipment manufacturer Cincinatti Retread Systems effective April 1st. CRS, now joins Jet, Pincott, Armonas, Mid West Rubber, Carbrasive, Western Weld and Rubber Resources as the latest member of the fast growing Indian owned group.
According to Bill Mohler, President of Elgi Rubber LLC, the acquisition of CRS is a strategic move in line with Elgi’s mission to manufacture everything required to retread and repair a tyre. Said Mohler; “There are few multiple product manufacturers in North America, and CRS was seen as a good fit, especially the company’s well-established expandable rim business. Cincinatti also has a good buffer line and some products for the OTR sector. The acquisition also gives us the ability to manufacture in the Western Hemisphere.” According to Mohler, Elgi eventually plans to manufacture Elgi and Armonas products in the US. However, in the first instance the company will be focusing on incorporating the Group’s consumables business into the US operation. In the future it is foreseen that refurbishing rims using the CRS programme will be carried out in both Brazil and Europe.
