         REIFEN ESSEN
              Reifen Preview
Reifen Essen takes place at Messe Essen once again this year with the top players in the global tyre industry making their presence felt at the largest event dedicated to tyres anywhere in the world.
The halls will be filled with exhibits that range from the fantastic and deeply impressive stands of the main manufacturers with their flights of fancy designed to make their brand stand out from their competitors, through to simple booths selling tyre paint, polish and valve caps.
Reifen Essen comes second to none in bringing the latest in technology and marketing to the tyre sector. Here the tyre retailer can find the latest in cutting edge technology, designed to help him improve his sales performance.
The retreader too will find his sector
well served with suppliers of treads and compounds, patches and treatments, and not a little new technology to make life simpler and quality better.
This year the show has also attempted to widen its appeal by bringing in every sector of the tyre industry from research and development right through to the disposal of end of life tyres: One whole industry from conception to disposal all under one roof.
The retreading sector has been gathered together in hall 10/11 this year, reflecting an increase in the importance of retreading to the tyre sector that once again retreaders and the retread supply sector have once again been able to fill a single large area of the show.

 Tech Repair Products
Tech is a global leader in the manufacture and supplier of tyre related repair products. Over the past 75 years the company has established a European network of like-minded independent individuals who supply a whole range of tyre repair products and services for the retread and tyre repair market sectors.
The range on offer includes Thermacure reinforced patches for the modern retreader. Tech has developed a new range of reinforced patches that exceeds the “in service” demands needs of the modern retreader.
The Features & Benefits include
• Ease of application – for process repairs use black cement – (reduce cost)
• Soft gum technology – extremely high initial tack – (less chance of air entrapment)
• Floater gum ply – high flexibility – (ideal for low aspect ratio tyre constructions)
• Low gas permeability top cover – heat & flex resistant polymer
• Full range of patch sizes – these include crown patch sizes for those larger injuries
• Long shelf life – 2 years from date of manufacture
• Proven technology – repairs conform to ece regulation 108/109

   VMI Presents Latest AZ Retrax and a Tread Compound Tester- LAT100
VMI Holland BV is well known to retreaders for its acclaimed "AZ" cushion-to-casing (CTC) extruder. During the last Essen show VMI presented the first member of the AZ Retrax family, specially designed for the smaller retread shops. Due to the interest from the larger retreaders for the new AZ Retrax, the range has been extended with a high output version up to 140 tyres per 8 hour shift.
The unique VMI CTC
process has important advantages: Quality assurance, providing penetration of the cushion gum into the buffed pattern, as well as operator independent skive-filling in a single operation;
Material savings, as cushion gum used as extruded feed strip cost less than calendered sheet with its plastic layers, and of course savings on rubber solution spraying;
Manpower savings, as skive filling and solution spraying are eliminated or strongly reduced.
The latter is very important for the environment because of the evaporative solvents in the spray with their health and fire hazards.
This is one of the reasons that
these popular AZ systems of VMI are used in both pre-cure and mold cure operations.
VMI will also show on their stand
a so called LAT100 tread compound test machine. This compound tester is already well known in the tyre industry but is relatively new in the world of tyre retreading. VMI feels it is time to explicitly present this
tester to tyre tread makers for the retreading industry. With the LAT100 and the Dr. Grosch method for classifying tread compounds with reference to five crucial characteristics, the industry gets a powerful tool in

ATEQ GmbH presents VT56 at Reifen 2014. The VT56 is a fully updateable, universal tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) tool. Designed to activate all TPMS sensors and store the sensor data. Using the OBD II connector this data can be transferred
to the vehicle to reset the ECU when a sensor is replaced or wheel positions are changed.
The VT56 uses ICO to guide the user, simply and quickly through all the functions of this powerful tool. VT56 OBD II kit includes amongst others a
