The Original Kraiburg at Reifen
TRM: The Year of the Dragon
Kraiburg Austria will be appearing at Reifen again. In their familiar location in the Galeria; but in a new and slightly larger form. The reason: The retreading specialist is celebrating its 50 year anniversary. The first original came off the production line in
Geretsberg in 1964. Visitors to the fair in Essen can have a look back at the most important historic data and get an update on what is happening today with the brand new image film. Kraiburg Austria will also be presenting the new designs of the
K_base, K_tech and K_plus ranges of course. The retreading branch can therefore expect the usual current insights, market-specific outlooks and many pleasant moments – in the Galeria directly at the entrance to Hall 3: Booth GA 109.

What is the Black Dragon?
Black Dragon is a jewel of the most innovative technology now present in the tyre retreading machinery business. The main retreading companies of the world (i.e. Italy, Europe, Russia, North America ) have already understood its potential.
Black Dragon is the only machine able to build tyres from 13” to 24,5” bead to bead for the hot retreading process. Black Dragon has a production capacity of up to 55 passenger tyres per hour with simultaneous building of tread and sidewalls. This gives very high productivity, with lower personnel costs and better material savings. There are saving from using sidewall compound, which is less expensive than the calendered sidewall leaf.
The building process, if done following the suggested timing and with the proper compounds, does not need the application of a bonding solution.
Once the “bead to bead” profile and the ideal circumference for the mould are programmed in, the Black Dragon scans the casing with a laser and automatically applies tread and sidewalls, compensating for any variation of the casing. The result is a tyre that is always built with the same dimensions.
Amongst the other strong points, TRM mentions the possibility of using any type of compound now sold in the market. The presence of a temperature control unit with an independent closed circuit cooled by direct injection eliminates the need for a chiller or external chilling water, and makes for easy and rapid installation.
