Elgi Acquires Armonas
Elgi has added to its fast expanding portfolio of retread equipment brands with the acquisition of Brazilian equipment manufacturer Armonas Equipamentos Industriais Ltda.
Based in Sao Paulo, Armonas was founded in 1966 by Rudolfo Armonas and has developed into a supplier of turnkey retreading plants. The company has supplied tailor-made monorail systems since 1987 and supplies a wide range of ancillary equipment such as envelope expanders, tyre cutters, inspection machines, spreaders, spray booths, tyre cages, tyre repair and skiving stations, tyre cleaner units and innerlope mounting tables as well as efficient exhaust
and dust extraction systems.
Elgi now has six retread related brands acquired in recent years. The other 5 are Jet branded repair equipment, accessories and tools, Pincott rasp blades, hubs and spacers, Midwest Rubber gums, adhesives and sealants, Carbrasive brazed carbide tools and Ecorr reclaim rubber.
According to Sudarsan Varadaraj, President and Managing Director of Elgi Rubber Company, the latest acquisition is a further demonstration of the Group’s gradual move away from the ultra- competitive tread rubber segment and emergence as a leading supplier of accessories and equipment.
