Salvadori –
Quietly Moving Forward
Italian retread equipment manufacturer and supplier, Salvadori had a busy time at Autopromotec. Juri Salvadori reported that business was good and that exports to overseas markets were strong. He noted a great deal of interest from advancing markets in Latin America
where retreaders were looking for high quality equipment and were keen to find a competitive edge by using market leading technology. Juri also reported that the tyre recycling equipment side of the business was showing steady growth as the market for recycled rubber was starting to grow.

MAE Reports Strong Start to 2013
BIPAVER General Assembly: Next Stage of Retyre Project Gets Go-Ahead
MAE Industria Gomma - MIG srl, the manufacturer of MAE branded retreading accessories, is reporting a strong start to 2013 despite the difficult economic situation. This was revealed by Giampaolo Malatesta (pictured on the right of the group photo) on their stand at Autopromotec in Bologna.
According to Malatesta, the company is currently investing heavily in R&D and is near to launching new generation of inner envelopes. In addition, the company is working
towards further, as yet unspecified, developments in the pre-cured envelope range later in the year, although more information will be released in due course.
The company is reporting particular success with its U-Tube line of products. “U-Tube is getting increasingly popular because it’s lighter, more economical and cheaper as it’s made with a different compound for its special use”, explained Malatesta.
for the rest of the 2.6 million Euro project.
The first stage of the project, which aimed to determine how great an influence the casing has on rolling resistance, has been a success with the effect of the casing being shown
and make.
The result is now that the remainder of the testing programme can go ahead, with project completion expected by autumn 2014 at the latest.
The positive news emerging from the BIPAVER General Assembly, held during the Autopromotec exhibition in Bologna, was the confirmation of a positive outcome from the initial stage of testing in the Retyre Project resulting in a definitive GO-decision
to be no more than 50 per cent. According to BIPAVER General Secretary, Ruud Spuibroek, the rolling resistance coefficient was shown to behave relatively constantly over life of the tyre and was largely unaffected by casing age, tyre size
Tyre Recycling Makes an Introduction at Autopromotec
Italy’s tyre recycling sector has come to life after an extended gestation period whilst government departments and local authorities discussed the conflicts in the legisilation, amended the laws and finally enabled the establishment of tyre collection agencies with statutory powers. The key collection service, backed by the big five tyre manufacturers and importers, is Ecopneus, who took the opportunity of Autopromotec to hold a presentation of their activities over the past year.
Head of Ecopneus, Giovanni Corbetta was pleased with the results of the Ecopneus operation so far, the group had been meeting its targets and had managed to reduce the cost of tyre collection. However, it had come up against greater obstacles than anticipated in some areas, and was now working with the local authorities, police,
customs and other agencies to train their staff on how they could deal with those who were breaking the law. In fact, it was now a key part of the role of Ecopneus to ensure that local authorities and other agencies knew that the law was being broken. The largest “independent” collection service, Ecotyre, was also present at Autopromotec and reported that there was a growing interest in their service, targeted at the independent importers and distributors, car dealers and others who fell outside the remit of Ecopneus.
