the retreading industry. Free and supported by a grant scheme, the initiative has trained 22 participants from the region in 2012.
Sergio dos Santos (18 years old) was one of the young people who completed their studies in the first class and immediately was hired by Tipler. "The lessons provided a profession and a job opportunity. Now, I'll keep studying, because I intend to pursue this career, "he explained.
The course is aimed at young people between 18 and 24 years of age (both sexes) and who have completed primary education. The classes take place from Tuesday to Thursday, from 8am to 12pm, with the theoretical work performed in the Polymer Technology Centre in Senai on Saturdays with practice being carried out in the unit of a Tipler retreading plant. The goal is to train professionals with solid knowledge to act in the retreading business, from receipt, through preparation, tread application, collection and
distribution of tyres, respecting procedures and technical standards, quality, health and safety and the environment. There are about 400 hours of instruction over a period of eight months.
"The great demand in the market is an incentive for the development of new youth," said the president of Tipler, Sergio Bica Jr. "The advantage of the design is that the student graduates and can be placed in work immediately."
With this training, participants can also affect other rubber industries located in São Leopoldo and the region as they will have skilled labour and industry experience to fill positions within companies.
"With the tax incentives to the auto industry, there was a sudden warming of our business, so we are left with a balance of many vacancies and very few skilled people to fill them. The market is expanding and trends suggest that it will stay that way, "says Viviane Lovison, operations manager of Senai-Cetepo.
compounds and exclusive tread designs that ensure lower rolling resistance, lower fuel consumption and greater mileage. Added to this, the ECO treads are a product that goes beyond economics to retreading, it contributes also to the environment and successful transport activity. "Even without mandatory regulations, Vipal anticipated this trend by offering a solution to the transport segment," said Eduardo Sacco, Marketing Manager of Vipal. It has been proven by important fleets across the country, such as Dalçoquio, TW Transports and Ereno Dörr, who adopted retreaded tyres with the ECO treads
in their fleets, thus getting considerable savings in fuel. The ECO treads enable fleets achieve about 10 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and up to 6 per cent more in mileage.
As set out in the regulations, consumers have access to information about each brand of tyre through the use of a label, the Label National Energy Conservation (ENCE), very similar to that being implemented this year in Europe. In Brazil, according to the ordinance of INMETRO, the label must accompany every new tyre from 2015.
Tipler Helping Transduarte Fleet to Reduce Scrap Tyres
In a fleet of passenger or cargo transport, investment in tyres can represent the second highest operating cost of the company, behind only, diesel. Transduarte, based in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul State, has managed to reduce by 50 per cent the early scrapping of tyres and increase the number of retreads by using the
Tipler System Analysis of Scrap tyres, identifying the causes of premature scrapping, quantifying the missing values with the irregular wear points and creating solutions for improvement in use. According to Tipler technicians, the main causes for uneven wear are tyre pressure and inadequate maintenance, overloading and accidental damage.
Bridgestone Launches Project with Truck Drivers

The company operates the projec, to take knowledge and entertainment to drivers who operate on the long and key Brazilian road networks. Vipal Eco Treads Anticipate New Requirements Planned From Inmetro for 2015
FM Pneus started its operations on July 2, 1990 in São Carlos, Santa Catarina State, transferring its headquarters in January 1991 to Maravilha-Santa Catarina State. There is always a need to be alert to changes in market concerns and legislation and to launch sustainable products through research and development. So it is Vipal, leader in the Brazilian market and Latin America and a leading global manufacturer of products for tyre retreading, which once again anticipates market trends, taking a lead ahead of future regulations. This is the ordinance of INMETRO 544 of
25 October 2012 establishing a certification regarding tyre grip in the wet, levels of noise emission and energy efficiency, which translates into safety and reduced fuel consumption. This is the case of that saw the development of the Vipal ECO tread with its unique technology and pioneering brand launched in 2009, some seven years before the requirement of INMETRO.
