A Full Year of Unitread at Madison
India: A Two Way Door For The
One year ago MTNA invested $7,500,000 to construct a plant in Madison Tennessee to produce Unitread. A year later Bill Sweatman, President and CEO and Chanthavy Vongsamphanh, Manufacturing Manager for MTNA recognised the first year accomplishments with a ceremony for the plant employees.
In Sweatman’s address he explained the purpose and significance of this accomplishment.
“Since the overall truck tyre retread market in North America is expected to continue to grow, in order for us to maintain and grow our market share we had to add capacity. With this added production we can provide material for well over a million retreads annually. There is a great advantage to producing here in the U.S. rather than importing. Flexibility and responsiveness are big competitive advantages for us as well as our customers.”
“We now have 60 retreaders in
North America using Unitread and have produced over 150,000 units. Both the growth in volume and the addition of so many new customers has been ver y gratifying.”
Chanthavy, added in his remarks that he was very proud of how so many employees have contributed to our success.
“We made a good decision by investing in Unitread production here, we have made great progress in our first year; in production, quality, sales and distribution development and... the best is yet to come, congratulations to all!” The ceremony was also attended by Cathy McKellar, Vice-President of the Old Hickor y Chamber of Commerce that took this occasion to commend Marangoni for their contribution to the community for their positive environmental impact.
Indian Market
Tyrexpo India 2013 is set to act as a global trade interchange offering international companies direct access to the booming Indian tyre market, while providing Indian suppliers the chance to grow their export sales contacts and networks.
While economic
growth in Europe and
the US stalls, India continues to move ahead with massive investment plans in new tyre production facilities by domestic and international giants such as Apollo, BKT, JK Tyre, Govind Rubber, Michelin and Continental. Together with the rapidly growing personal ownership of cars for a new generation of affluent citizens
international buyers and distributors who will attend the show. Tyrexpo India will be the catalyst that allows these ambitions to be realised,” predicts Farrant.
ECI believe that Tyrexpo India is uniquely placed to act as a trade interchange by bringing together the international contacts and
networks established from other successful tyre and equipment shows run by the company in the UK, southern Africa and south east Asia.
The first staging of Tyrexpo India exhibition in 2011 drew almost 4,000 trade buyers and delegates from India and 20 overseas countries to Chennai
and Paul Farrant is confident on building on this excellent start. “The first exhibition proved that there is a real appetite for a dedicated and professional tyre show in India. For 2013 will be building on that initial success to provide an outstanding opportunity for businesses to get close to the dynamic Indian market,” confirms Paul Farrant. Tyrexpo India 2013 will take place at the Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai, India from 9-11 July 2013.

and a developing national roads network, these factors are fuelling the continued growth of the Indian market.
According to Tyrexpo India organiser Paul Farrant of ECI International, next July’s exhibition will encourage both inward investment and export opportunities.
“We know there is massive interest from international companies who want to get involved in supplying the Indian domestic market with everything from raw
materials to tyre building technology and aftermarket tyres and service equipment.
“At the same time there are many Indian producers who want to develop their export business by meeting the
