Autopromotec 2013: Mission to Argentina and Brazil
Autopromotec, the most specialised international trade fair for automotive equipment and aftermarket products (22 – 26 May 2013, Bologna Trade Fair Centre, Italy), has been focussing on increasing awareness of the show internationally and organised a recent South American promotional mission to Argentina and Brazil.
In recent shows the organisers of Autopromotec, Promotec, have been actively targeting international companies with the objective of not only increasing participation of new exhibitors and visitors from outside Italy, but also of adding value to the event itself. The results of this approach have resulted in 9 per cent more exhibitors attending the show in 2011 than in 2009, and 11 per cent more visitors attending from abroad.
The recent trip to South America enabled Promotec management to meet key players in the automotive industry at a local level - from the chief industry associations and trade fair organisers to marketing agencies and representatives from industry press. The strategy is helping to make Autopromotec and the entire Italian automotive aftermarket become better known across the world.
The mission took place in June and was hailed a great success. Brand Manager at Autopromotec, Emanuele Vicentini, said: “The outcome of the mission has been more than positive, further strengthening awareness of the event in South America, as well as providing interesting information for our future relationships with
businesses, developing specific initiatives and targeting exhibitors and visitors from both Argentina and Brazil.”
Autopromotec representatives also met with key industr y media in Brazil and Argentina, many of whom are now regular guests of the show and have been backing Autopromotec for several years with coverage of the event.
Mr Vicentini added: “The new packages will make it easier for individuals to visit the event. In addition our promotional activity to increase the turn-out of local companies exhibiting their products will no doubt lead to the launch of ‘Country Areas’ similar to those hosted by other international trade fairs for the automotive aftermarket.”
The mission in Brazil
The exploratory mission in Brazil fits into an agreement signed between Promotec, the Region of Emilia Romagna, and BolognaFiere, to promote the event both there, and in China and Turkey – all of which are considered key to the automotive sector and more specifically for aftersales.
The most strategic meetings were held with SINDIREPA (Sindicato da Indústria de Reparação de Veículos e Acessórios do Estado do São Paulo), which owns a key network of workshops considered to be the most important in Brazil in terms of traffic and vehicles. Autopromotec bosses also met with ARESP (Associação das Empresas Reformadoras de Pneus do Estado
de São Paulo) and SINDIBOR (Sindicato da Indústria de Artefatos de Borracha no Estado de São Paulo); the two associations tied to the tyre business and supporters of Pneushow and Expobor, exhibitions that are key at local level.
The mission in Argentina
In Argentina, Promotec's promotional efforts have a long, successful histor y, thanks to an agreement signed with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Buenos Aires, which directly supports promotional activities on behalf of Autopromotec on all Argentinian soil. This rewarding cooperation has led to the organisation of meetings both with important local associations and with marketing agencies across Argentina. Successful meetings held during the mission included discussions with Grupo Proa (Group of Vehicle parts Manufacturers) who have agreed to list the show in its official calendar of trade fairs sponsored by the Argentinian government. Autopromotec also met with AFYDREM (The Argentinian Association of Engine Parts Manufacturers and Distributors), discussing the possibility of organising the participation of a group of buyers at the fair, and the Federación Argentina de Neumáticos (Argentinian association of Tyre Retreaders), who expressed the intention to organise a delegation of visitors interested in the latest industr y developments to attend the 2013 show.
Argentina’s Chamber of Commerce
also helped Autopromotec schedule meetings with certain Argentinian marketing agencies, including Agenzia Pro Cordoba, a promoter of exports by companies in the Province of Cordoba, and Exportar, the Argentinian agency for the economic and commercial promotion of the countr y, which has expressed interest in including Autopromotec among the list of fairs promoted by its government. Over the course of both meetings, Emanuele Vicentini presented Autopromotec’s unique features, facts and figures; providing attendees with detailed information to share with their associates and help attract Argentinian exhibitors to the trade fair in future years.
