SWEDEN
Another Success in Sweden for Marangoni Retreading Systems
Retreading Systems involves its buses (city, intercity and school buses) serving fixed routes in the province Blekinge, Sweden.
The partnership derives from Bergkvarabuss AB’s need to change its
vehicles’ tyres just once a year: the tyres are fitted on the buses in October, at the start of winter, and need to remain in service for 12 months.
All the buses are fitted with tyres, either new or retreads, in October or November so as to get through the winter with the tread still perfectly intact.
Nonetheless, until now the company had not managed to find retreads able to satisfy their main requirement: tyre change once a year, meaning not having to change them again in the summer, with additional costs.
At the end of 2009, Däckia AB, a major Swedish tyre retreader and historic Marangoni partner, offered
Bergkvarabuss AB the opportunity to test the Ringtread solution, specifically the BUS-T pattern.
Given the encouraging initial results, at the end of 2010 a second set of tests was carried out, with a minor improvement to the product, the results of which were extremely positive and convinced the Swedish fleet to fit the Ringtread profile it tested on all its city buses.
Bergkvarabuss AB is very satisfied with performance in terms of the traction and grip provided by the pattern, but above all
impressed by the very high mileage the tread can guarantee.
BUS-T is an excellent drive pattern for city buses that start and stop frequently. The pattern features two rows of deep blocks that ensure high mileage, with transverse siping to optimise the tread’s footprint and increase
adherence. The massive shoulders guarantee excellent resistance to impact, rubbing against footpaths and abrasion.
Ringtread is the only retreading system that uses joint-free precured rings that adhere to the casing without tension or deformation of the tread pattern, ensuring low rolling resistance and consequently fuel savings and longer tread life.
Marangoni Retreading Systems is pleased to announce that Bergkvarabuss AB, one of the largest private tourist bus and coach companies in Sweden, has decided to choose the Ringtread technology for its tyres.
The company was founded in 1975 as a small taxi and bus business and has since grown to become the biggest family business in the sector in Sweden, holding a considerable share of the market.
The company operates a fleet of ultra- modern buses that includes around 550 top-of-the-range vehicles travelling all over Sweden and around a further 65 in the rest of Europe.
