Conti Offers Retreading in Ireland
Continental A.G. said it now has a fully integrated partner network in Ireland especially for truck tyre service and retreading.
The tyre maker said 23 dealers with 37 sites across the country have signed on to the new Conti360° Fleet Services package.
Conti said its 360° Fleet Services combine an array of products and services specifically designed for European road transport customers. It is a modular package covering all tyre-related services, with the aim of reducing operating costs and improving cost controls.
Marangoni Expands North American Operations
Marangoni Tread North America (MTNA) is making a $10 million investment in the U.S. The company says that as the product demand in the U.S. and Canada has continued to rise each year, MTNA is meeting the larger demand by expanding its plant in Madison, Tennessee.
The $10 million commitment to the North American market has allowed MTNA to increase production capacity of Ringtread, the company’s spliceless retread technology, by 30 per cent. It will also allow MTNA to install the necessary machinery to begin producing Marangoni’s conventional precure product, Unitread, within its North
American plant.
Construction and installation is now complete and production will begin to ramp up. Employment at the plant has increased by 20 people, and MTNA expects to add an additional 8-10 people within the next six months.
This year also marked a new direction for MTNA as it established itself as a full-service supplier and total solutions company for independent retreaders. MTNA now offers a full catalog of retread equipment and plant supplies to aide dealers in the retreading of commercial truck tyres.

RTA’s Brodsky to Chair ITEC Retread Workshop
Harvey Brodsky, managing director of the Retread Tire Association, will serve as chairman of a retread workshop planned for next year’s International Tire Exhibition & Conference in Cleveland. Brodsky also will be responsible for exhibit sales for the Retread Pavilion for ITEC 2012, to be held at the International Exhibition Center, Sept. 18-20, 2012. The event is organized by Rubber & Plastics News and Tire Business.
The ITEC Passenger and Light Truck Retread Workshop will look at how bead-to-bead retread tyres can be produced as a top quality high-performance product.
The workshop program will cover topics such as moulds designed to accommodate the sidewall design; how non- destructive testing (shearography,
X-ray, non-destructive testing, differometry) will enable retreaders to have greater assurance that the tyres to retread are really suitable for a full second life; environmental and federal government rules and regulations; and are casings being sold as original equipment passenger and light truck tyres suitable for retreading? Additional workshop programs and topics will be announced at a later date.
“The Retread Workshop and exhibits pavilion will be an important addition to ITEC 2012 for all retreaders who want to learn about the latest in retreading equipment and machinery, and to hear a number of interesting presentations by experts in the field of retreading and tyre repair, “Brodsky said.
