“We are able to provide services for both hot cure retreading and precure retreading systems, but boast a particular attention to the hot cure processes. Although today's market trend is more towards precure retreading with the growing numbers of radial tyres, we still see the need and potential for hot cure retreading, especially in the larger OTR tyres,” said Liew Koon Marketing Sdn Bhd,
Managing Director Louis Liew. Hot cure retreading, according Louis, requires higher skills and technical knowledge as compared to precure retreading. In addition, it has a distinct aesthetic advantage over pre- cure tyres. The fact that this technology requires significant investment is also a reassurance, which means it is almost exclusively used by the larger retreaders.
“ We have the expertise in hot cure retreading, and we are
confident in the technology. Thus, we are looking into every possibility to promote the system,” stressed Louis.
When asked about market demand for the turnkey projects and consultancy services, Louis replied that the demand is mainly from overseas. “Over the years, we have set up quite a number of OTR turnkey plants in the Middle East, Turkey, South Africa, China, Hong Kong, Australia,
Indonesia, Thailand,
Vietnam, Philippines,
etc. There are
emerging demands in
these countries,
especially Indonesia,
the Middle East and
South Africa.”
As for the retreading
tools and accessories,
the local market
accounts 30 per cent
of the overall sales,
whilst the balance is
exports. Liew Koon
carries many different
brands of tools and
accessories such as MRF Curing Bag/Tube, Kwik Repair Tyre Patches and Tube Patches, Pincott Buffing Blades, etc, providing the customer with a wide range of selections. They are also the sole distributor for MRF precure envelopes in South East Asia.
Apart from that, Louis added that they also offer aluminium matrices, segmented matrices, and moulds of all sizes.
