  Michelin's XZA3+ 30% More Miles
Michelin has introduced a new version of its most well known steer tyre in the USA, with a
ver y bold guarantee: 30 per cent more miles than the competition in long-haul applications. The tyre also features a three-retread limited warranty.
The new XZA3+ Evertread steer tyre, EPA SmartWay-verified, is said to deliver the same fuel- economy performance as the previous-generation XZA3, with no compromise in traction or handling either.
The secret is the XZA3+ tyre's new patent-pending 'Dual Compound Tread'. This technology allows tyre designers to utilize multiple rubber compounds at different places in the tread, Michelin explains. One compound is specifically engineered to control tread stiffness and stress to reduce
irregular wear, delivering tread life without compromising other characteristics. Another compound promotes fuel efficiency and keeps the tyre’s operating temperatures low, guarding the casing for retreading. Casing integrity is improved through the enhanced inner liner, bead area and rectangular bead bundle.
The XZA3+ Evertread tyre is available now in four G-load range sizes: 11R22.5, 275/80R22.5, 11R24.5 and 275/80R24.5; as well as two H- load range sizes: 11R22.5 and 275/80R22.5.
"The tyre will be a little more expensive [than the XZA3] but the value really is there," says Ted Becker, vice president of marketing, Michelin Americas Truck Tires.
New Marix MD Extra for Intercity Coaches
Balancing the books without compromising on the fundamentals of passenger and personnel safety is one of the challenges that all businesses dealing with passenger transport and operating fleets of coaches need to face, especially in these hard economic times. One way to meet these demands is to fit good retreaded tyres such as the new Marix MD Extra. On coaches that travel intercity routes, Marangoni says that cost savings of around 40 per cent can be achieved when compared to similar new tyres – all without
losing out in terms of quality. Made specifically for the drive wheels of intercity coaches, Marix MD Extra is a universal 295/80 R22.5 drive tyre that guarantees maximum performance all year round and in any weather. A five-groove tread with specific block sculptures and longitudinal channels guarantees maximum grip in all road conditions, good stability, quick and effective water drainage and excellent road hold throughout the tyre’s life.
