Announcing the dates for Tyrexpo India 2013 Paul Farrant, managing director of ECI International, said: “We are exceptionally pleased with the outcome of Tyrexpo India 2011. As a first show in a new market it both met and surpassed our expectations in every area, from the quantity and quality of exhibitors and visitors to the positive feedback we have received from many of those
involved.
“Our original intention was to review the show for several months before reaching a decision on a follow up, but we’ve already seen enough to make the decision with confidence that the show will be back in Chennai from 9-11 July 2013,” he confirmed. Around 35 per cent of the 80 plus exhibitors have already re-booked for the 2013 exhibition.
More than 3,970 trade visitors from India and more than 20 overseas countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Italy, Germany, UK, France, China,UAE, Nepal, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya,Sweden,Sri Lanka, Thailand, Korea, Holland, Slovakia and Zimbabwe visited the three-day event.
The first staging of Tyrexpo India 2011, organized between 5th – 7th July, 2011 at Chennai Trade Centre at Chennai, Capital of the Southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu received a strong response. The show has been successful in bringing a number of overseas exhibitors as well as buyers. in India.
The exhibition was officially opened by Elgi Rubber, a long-standing Indian supporter of Tyrexpo shows around the world. Guest of Honour, Mr Sudarsan Varadaraj, Elgi’s Managing Director , welcomed the show to India saying that the timing was right for an event that showcased the best of India’s emerging tyre and equipment aftermarket. He also praised the choice of Chennai, India’s motor city, as the venue for the country’s first dedicated tyre trade event.

Elgi Rubber Company is now focusing on promoting its Retread Management Programme worldwide. The rubber company is already implementing the programme in its tread making subsidiary Treadsdirect. “To start with, we are in the process of introducing the Retread Management Programme to retreading companies in India. We have the software, experience and infrastructure to provide everything from equipment, training, supply and logistics through to raw materials. We are a one-stop-shop providing all kinds of solutions from back-office management support to retreading,” explained Mr Sudarsan Varadaraj, Chairman and Managing Director, Elgi Rubber Company Limited to Retreading Business during the show. Individual retreading companies can choose either a part of the Retread Management Programme or the whole package. “Moreover, in these changing times retreading is fast becoming part of the new tyre sales offer. Companies have to provide all kinds of services right from the sale of new tyre through to retreading solutions,” he emphasized. It is also understood that some multinational companies
entering the Indian retreading market have shown an interest in the Retread Management Programme.
Elgi showcased its Titan brand of precured tyre retreading equipment at Tyrexpo Chennai. The company manufactures a range of equipment that includes electric tyre curing chambers of different capacities ranging from 2 tyres to 22 tyres, inspection spreaders, tyre buffers, tread builders and envelope expanders of various capacities and specifications. Also on display were a tyre grooving machine and a nail hole detector, which are new to India; the Vulcan brand of consumables: the Carbrasive brand of brazed carbide tools, Jet repair system, Tyreseal repair products and Reclaim rubber samples of the brand Rubber Resources.
