LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD IN THE TYRE RECYCLING SECTOR JP BOUYSSET WINS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Probably the most prestigious of the Recircle Awards are the two individual awards bes- towed for a lifetime of achievement in the two key industry sectors covered by the awards, namely tyre retreading and tyre recycling. The recipients of these awards are chosen by a select voting committee led by the respective editors of Retreading Business and Tyre & Rub- ber Recycling after consultation with members of the Nominations Committee. At this year’s Awards Ceremony in Bologna on the award for the tyre recycling sector was announced due to the fact that the Lifetime Achievement Award in the retreading sector, had been awarded to Chen Jet How, ex CEO of the Kit Loong Group during last year’s launch of the 2023 Awards in Singapore. The winner of this year’s Lifetime Achieve- ment Award in the Tyre Recycling Sector is Jean-Paul Bouysset. Bouysset is a long-standing member of the glo- bal tyre-recycling community and is one of the leading authorities in the Recovered Carbon Black sector. He has 38 years of experience in the Rubber and Carbon-Black Industries including the setting up and management of production and lab facilities, as well as being a technical and marketing advisor in Western Europe and Africa. He holds a degree in Ru- bber Engineering and has worked over the years for a variety of international compa- Jean-Paul Bouysset nies including Phillips Petroleum, Continental Carbon and Columbian Chemicals with whom he served as a General manager for France and North Africa. In 1992 he created his own company D.Z.S. working with rubber chemicals, carbon black, synthetic rubber and laboratory equipment. He retired in 2005 and since then has been a consulting engineer in rubber recycling, pyrolysis and rubber regeneration and is an Associate Board member of Phenix-Technolo- gies SAS. One of his most significant achievements has been the creation of the ETRA Pyrolysis Forum 27 years ago and has been an active proponent of the pyrolysis sector ever since. Bouysset’s award was announced at the Awards Ceremony by Tyre & Rubber Recy- cling Editor, Ewan Scott who said: “Jean-Paul Bouysset has been valued member of the tyre-recycling community for many years and promoted pyrolysis right from the start. In the early days pyrolysis was looked at with incre- dulity by the recycling community, but after a long period of gestation and development Jean-Paul Bouysset set up the pyrolysis panel at the ETRA Conference to the point that it al- most took over the whole event. I’m delighted to announce Jean-Paul Bouysset as this year’s winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Tyre Recycling Sector.” P.VIII
