According to Recircle Awards organisers Valebridge Media Services, one of the most noticeable aspects of this year’s event was the degree of engagement in the voting process from many of the nominees. No more was this more evident than with the Brazilian retreader FM Pneus and the Ecuadorian EPR Scheme, both of whom staged live screenings of the vir- tual award ceremony on April 25th, allowing their employees to celebrate their respective wins in the Spirit of Retreading Award and the Best EPR Scheme categories. Both companies posted footage of the wild celebrations at their - ging a smile to our faces.
This year’s Spirit of Retreading Award once again featured several well-deserving retrea- ders from around the globe. However, the winners, thanks to a late voting surge, was the Brazilian retreader FM Pneus, based in the town of Miravilha. The company operates six production sites covering the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Parana, Mate Grosso do Sul and Sao Paulo.
During 2021 the company was particularly active, acquiring two retreaders Tyresblue, based in Gaspar and Warmor Renovadora de Pneus from Itajaí as well as opening its sixth plant.

SEGINUS, meanwhile won their second Re- circle Award, having carried off the Business
Innovation Award in the inaugural event in 2021. In winning the 2022 award for the Best EPR scheme, the Ecuadorian organisation triumphed over several well-known European organisations, illustrating the success of SE- GINUS’s strategy of engaging their entire ne- twork in the voting process.
organising the tyre recycling sector in Ecua- dor. More than 3,000,000 end of use tyres were converted and or recycled during their second year of activity. The organisation is in- vesting in the use of recycled tyres in several recycling streams including in pyrolysis and sports surfaces to name but two.
“At the level of Latin America and Ecuador it is a prize to be nominated and chosen as a repre- sentative of the good handling and manage- ment of used tyres,” commented Jacinto Mon- serrate Godoy, Executive Director SEGINUS. “We currently represent 75% of the national tyre market and have recycled more than four million used tyres, giving them a second useful life in different processes such as granulate and handicraft. We have also generated 900 Ecuadorians. With this recognition we hope to have more opportunities to generate and add value to the recycling of used tyres in Ecuador, providing all the principal actors can collabo- rate to take care of the environment and so- ciety. Our objective is to cover 100% of tyres placed on the national market and gaurantee their correct disposal to achieve sustainable developments.”
