Report
The activity of tyre retreading and renovation in Chile started in the late 50’s. The shortage of new tyres and the economic resources shortage, found in this activity, a very important help for the industry of transportation, both for cargo and passengers.
Currently, Chile is a country that is almost 100% radialised. Howe- ver, being a completely open economy, the impact of the entry of lower quality tyres has caused a severe drop in retreaded units.
The national tyre retreading and renovation industry, mainly gathe- red in ARNEC, has been prepared, since its formation, for this great challenge.
In 2015, ARNEC worked together with the National Institute for Standardisation for the promulgation of the standard norm NCh3374:2015 “Requirements for the Retreading and Renovation of Truck & Bus Tyres”.
