Stock Tread Rubber Dealer Imports Global Brands
India’s retread market is currently consuming good volumes of stock rubber. Considering the prevailing slowdown and liquidity crises in the domestic market, retreaders are scouting for good quality imported rubber in the economical price bracket. Northern India based Fibra International imports stock rubber from global tread brands and promotes them in the domestic market.
Anuj Gupta of the Meerut based company explained, “Stock rubber is old lots of tread liner, which has been laying with the manufacturer. Dealers like us buy the stock and sell it to retreaders.” Fibra International has been in the business of stock rubber for the last two decades.
The company owns four warehouses in Meerut. Therefore, space is not a constraint for stocking large quantities of rubber. “We are always on the look out for tread
rubber in India as well as outside, but it should be good in quality and suit us price wise,” admitted Gupta.
Fibra International is a multi- brand tread rubber dealer selling Indian and international brands in the domestic market. The company also started selling new liners a few years ago in addition to stock lots of Indian brands like Midas, Indag, Eastern and Vamshi.
“We also sell stock rubber from Bandag, Ring Tread, Galgo, Continental, Dunlop, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Marangoni etc. We only import stock lots of foreign brands.” The company imports stock rubber from the US, Belgium and Italy and also forayed in to buying defective stock tyres some time back in order to further expand its product range.
Considering margins in the Indian retreading industry, the company claims dealing in stock rubber and tyres have better returns as on an average the
margins are around 20% in stock rubber and 15-20% in stock tyres.
As space is not an issue, Fibra says it has capacity to stock 300 tons of stock rubber annually. “Currently, we are in touch with Indag for a major stock load,” he confided.
Last year, the
company picked-up smaller quantities,
but this year the
market has shown
slight improvement
and likely to stock
more.
On rubber quality,
Gupta adds, “Rubber
is heavy and thick in foreign brands,
largely consumed by retreaders having
clientele in the hilly regions and mining areas.”
