Grupo Soledad Wins Algeciras Supply Contract
In addition to working in newspapers, Stoyer served as public relations director of the former Republic Steel’s five plants in Stark County, among
other communication positions. In 2000, Stoyer was inducted into the Tire Industry Association’s Tire Industry Hall of Fame.
Grupo Soledad, the Spanish tyre distribution group and the parent company of the Spanish retreader Insa Turboo, has won a
public tender for the supply of tyres to Actividades de Limpieza y Gestión, S.A. (ALGESA), a company that belongs to the Algeciras City Council.
The signed contract will have a duration of one year, with an
extension of another year, which together would add 131,864.81 euros (+ VAT). The contract is divided into two lots, one that
includes the supply of tyres for the ALGESA fleet of buses and vans, and another for trucks and industrial vehicles.
The contract will cover more than 350 tyres.

Lloyd Stoyer, former editor of Modern Tire Dealer magazine died March 1, 2020. He was 91.
Stoyer served as editor of Modern Tire Dealer from 1986 – 2000, following a long journalism and communications career that included 15 years at the Akron Beacon Journal, where he worked as a reporter, Sunday editor and assistant managing editor. He also edited The County Press in Lapeer, Mich. and the Niles Times in Ohio, and its six weekly suburban newspapers.

Emily Markulis has joined the Tire Association Industry (TIA) in the new role of communications and membership coordinator. In this position,
Markulis will
help coordinate
the association's communications
and marketing
activities,
including
promoting TIA's
many
programmes
centering
around tyre
safety and
political
lobbying. In
addition, she
will assist TIA's
membership
and training
departments.
Markulis brings to TIA expertise in publications, social media and website management, with previous experience as communications coordinator for a condominium association and as a communications intern for the National Multifamily Housing Council. She holds a master’s degree in
communication from Johns Hopkins University.
