TREADS
K718 is non-rolling direction- bound and
forces. Its special groove design reduces stone capture and cracks in the tread base. Wings give the longitudinally orientated pattern an excellent visual appearance. In short: The newly developed K818 convinces with high stability, extremely good grip and excellent resistance. The low tread movements and the compound adapted specially for long-distance traffic ensure cool and smooth running. This is kind on the carcass and prolongs the lifetime. The new trailer pattern is ideal for trailers, semi-trailers and tag axles in local and long-distance traffic. It also exhibits high resistance under transversal stresses, for example when manoeuvring in a confined space. The K818 also promotes environmentally friendly travel because the pattern helps to save fuel and therefore improves both the CO2 balance and noise emissions. The K818, which is adapted to use with the K718, is now available in widths of 305 and 320 millimetres.

therefore very versatile in
its use. The cool running compound
and the optimised block
design ensure good self-
cooling, low rolling
resistance and therefore a much
lower fuel consumption or less CO2 and noise emissions. The K718 drive profile is available in widths of 260 and 270 millimetres.
The K818 pattern brings optimum performance in combination with the new trailer design for the sharpest of bends. Its special shoulder geometry relieves load on the shoulder under lateral shearing
operates. Special attention is paid to solutions aimed at protecting the environment, also in terms of circular economy, a subject that local residents feel very strongly about. The corporate value system and the desire to offer an increasingly efficient service have driven the company to seek sustainable solutions in order to improve the mileage performance of its fleet, using high-quality retreaded tyres manufactured with Marangoni materials and technologies. Olegario Gonzalez Peña, Global’s Maintenance Manager, was satisfied with the performance of the Ringtread tyres . He said: “Many of the routes our buses travel on are quite challenging, with numerous hairpin bends. Another factor influencing the tread wear rate is the presence on the tarmac of volcanic ash typically found in the Canary Islands. Despite these difficult conditions of use, Ringtread BUS100 has proven to be the ideal product for our needs,
since it offers the same level of performance and safety as the new premium tyres. Thanks to the exceptional performance of the Ringtread BUS100 tread, Global has improved mileage performance by 15% compared to previous tyres.”
This success story is also the result of the partnership between Marangoni and Boleca , the retreading company that provides Global with all requested services, including tyre fleet management, which is an important aspect for public fleets.
The ongoing communication campaign with advertising on the fleet’s buses focuses on the Ringtread, with its benefits in terms of safety and reduced environmental impact. Marangoni recommends all- position and all-season Ringtread BUS100 tyres for both city and intercity buses. Reinforced and stabilised tread blocks ensure traction, road grip and regular wear.
Galgo Offers Three New Sizes of Trailer Axle Tread Design
In an ongoing effort to meet the needs of the retreading market, Galgo has expanded its Trailer Axle (TA) product line to include three new sizes.
This Pre-Q brand tread design, which has been developed for freeway application, is now
available in widths of 9 4/8” (240 mm), 9 7/8” (250 mm) and 11 3/8” (290 mm), and a depth of 12/32” (9.5 mm).
Due to its design features, the TA tread offers customers worldwide an additional light band option, while delivering
outstanding performance to free axles, and providing excellent mileage and even wear, as a result of its lateral buttress ribs. In addition, the TA tread design has been awarded SmartWay Certification due to its ability to provide lower rolling resistance, lessen fuel consumption, and reduce greenhouse gas effects.
Superdoll Zambia Granted Accreditation from Mine Safety Department
According to Vick Nachson, Country Manager for Superdoll Zambia, the company’s OTR retreading plant in Ndola has been granted accreditation in the manufacturing and supply of OTR retreads to the Zambian mining industry.
The factory in Ndola started operations in 2016, although the company itself was established four years earlier with the aim of delivering quality and cost-effective
tyre management solutions to the mining industry in Zambia and neighbouring countries. Facilities include a state-of-the-art OTR retread plant and a tyre servicing centre for passenger and 4x4 vehicles as well as light and heavy trucks.
According to Nachson, Superdoll has existing partnerships with a number of leading international brands including Michelin, Varta, Hella, and Doll trailers.
Marangoni’s Ringtread Wins the Trust of GLOBAL
In 2000, Salcai Utinsa S.A. (Global) was established from the merger of the two main intercity transport companies of the island of Gran Canaria: Salcai and Utinsa. Global has a team of nearly 800 employees and a fleet of more than 300 buses that travel 27 million kilometres a year, on the 120 routes covering
the entire island. Several new generation buses have been recently added to the fleet, with enhanced engine power for driving on mountain roads. Global is an environmentally and socially responsible company, constantly focused on meeting the needs of its customers and of the community in which it
