Dominant operates with Ringtread technology
along with what we have now,” Sokolov concluded. “Maxishina LLC is ready to share best practices with European retreading plants, both at
its and their territories. We are ready to consider any partnership proposals”.
Goodyear’s Foothold in the Russian South
Dominant LLC runs the fourth retreading plant in Russia licensed in accordance with Goodyear;s constant performance system certification standards. This is also one of the few retreading plants on the country’s south – the region, where a strong economic upturn has been seen after the 2014 Winter Olympics and where multiple major infrastructure projects were launched in this regard.
Andrey Funk, general director of Dominant LLC believes that for a retreading plant in Russia it is really great to work with a strong international player behind its back. Dominant LLC has a long history of successful trade with Goodyear. The company was established in 2002, originally to sell the new tyres under Goodyear brand to the local customers.
The idea to build a retreading plant was harboured for a quite long time, but the first steps in that direction were made only in 2011, when Goodyear started looking for local partners to retread tyres in accordance to its standards, Funk recalled.
“We held negotiations with Goodyear in 2011. They confirmed their interest in the project and I told them that the plant would be built in a year with all that it implies. So, in 2011 we purchased the retreading equipment in Europe, fully in accordance with the Goodyear requirements and in February 2012 we retreaded our first tyres,” Funk said.
“In June 2012 we obtained Goodyear certification, and we were also added into Goodyear’s list of retreaders operating in accordance with its standards. This list includes numerous companies from all around the world, and we were placed there with the role number G67,” he added.
Integrated Business
Goodyear is also satisfied with its business with Dominant LLC, according to Benjamin Willot, former general director in Goodyear Russia LLC.
“By expanding the Goodyear certified partner network in Russia, we aim to improve the services provided for our customers in the different parts of the country and offer them the newest product –
retreaded tyres,” Willot said.
“It is very important to stress that Next Tread tyres are manufactured with the absolute same technologies, as new tyres, and so they basically have no differences with new tyres”.
The new plant is incorporated into the well-elaborated Goodyear service network in Russia, according to Willot.
“For Goodyear, tyres are the core business, but not the only one. The second ver y important direction is service support, which Goodyear performs within the TruckForce
network. And the products under the brand name Next Tread become an integral part of our service offer for the cargo carriers,” Willot said. “Next Tread tyres give the cargo carriers savings in terms of mileage, because they are cheaper than new tyres. In addition, extending the life of the truck tyre through its revival,
saves resources and raw materials, reduces the number of casings that need to be recycled, and so reduces the operational costs for the customers. Tyre retreading is also more environmentally friendly than the production of new tyres in terms of emissions,” he added.
