Pneushow Highlights Sharpening Competition

strong increase in sales and an increase in the willingness of the retread sector to invest in new equipment.
Nowhere was this more in evidence than in the very centre of

Not to be outdone, the next two stands were Lukatec and Tipler, who made it clear that Lukatec machinery henceforward would be offered via the Tipler network,

Pneushow creates a vibrant meeting place for the South American tyre industry
26-28 June saw the 13th edition of Pneushow held at Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo, Brazil, held, as usual, alongside Expobor, the exhibition for the rubber industry. Pneushow has long been a key exhibition for the retreading
industry in South America. Originally established as Recaufair many years ago, the show has consistently been supported by the Brazilian Retreaders Association ABR and the Sao Paulo Retreaders Association ARESP. Although the show has now become an event for the whole of the tyre industry, its historical roots in the retreading industry remain visible and assure strong support from the retreading sector.
This year’s show took place against the background of a recovering retread sector in Brazil. In the five months until May the market had been showing clear signs of a
strong recovery. Following a halt in the slide in the retread market between 2013 and 2016, when the number of truck retreads sold in Brazil fell from 9 million units to 7.2 million units, 2018 has seen a
the retreading section, where several of the key players were lined up next to each other with significant investments in stand space.
As you entered the exhibition, the first company you came across was Vipal, who were focusing heavily on the expansion of their new machinery division and the launch of their new Cushion Gum
allowing Tipler to provide a combined tread rubber/machinery offering to the market place.
This image of battle lines being drawn between the two leading tread rubber networks was watched with interest by the next two major exhibitors, Elgi and VMI, both of whom primarily target the independent retreading sector. With Lukatec and Vipal
