it’s really the safety side of the talk that drives it.”
“Being in Central America and in the heart of a Spanish speaking country, it goes without saying, but shows such as this are a seismic opportunity for TIA to sell the Spanish language programmes,” he expanded.
The Senior Vice President of Training determined, “The individuals in the market who want to be the best ultimately realise that their people need to be trained, which means that as the Latin American markets develop, training programmes such as ours increasingly come to the forefront. We are constantly drilling into our members the correlation between training and Quality of Assurance.” However, it hasn’t been all plain
However, this is a process we are constantly refining, and the translations will get better.”
“The original translation was very formal in its essence. Our challenge is to make sure the student doesn’t become confused, so it is paramount that we facilitate the learning process. It’s not so much of an issue in the OTR training as the tools and processes are all the same, whereas the commercial programme embodies a lot of variables that need to be considered at all stages,” he added.
With regards to future translations of the training programmes Rohlwing stated, “we are going to go where the market takes us and ensure that we are providing the best service to our members.”
As is naturally the case in these discussions minds turned towards the future and the focus of the TIA going forward. Taking into account that the TIA had been focusing keenly on training over the past few years, Retreading Business was eager to discover if this focus was due to change at all. Rohlwing said, “At the end of day our members want training and specifically service training. We continuously talk with our members and we follow their needs and wants. It’s a strategy that pays fruitful dividends as it means they stay with us.”
“Originally, our role focused on awareness, compliance and liability, but then the
pendulum shifted to worker health and safety. This shift has been fun to see, but also challenging as it has meant we have had to move with the demands of the market,” he concluded.
particularly high number of Mexicans. What has surprised me though, is the number of Venezuelan attendees that we have encountered.”
Tesco Italmatic LLC has been attending the exhibition in Panamá since its inception, with the show’s success growing year on year, the company has found that more opportunities have presented themselves in terms of business through networking, but ultimately through promotion as well.
The main focus of Tesco Italmatic’s efforts during the show were made towards the promotion of the Branick BTT-5700E, which has patents pending, and is a tyre inspection spreader with adjustable bi-directional rotation, adjustable working height and a powerful RMA compliant LED light attached that can check between 18-20 tyres per hour.
The machine also has a high amount of tool storage through its tool tray with slotted tool holder,
behind the Branick name. With 101 years of histor y manufacturing quality products, it is a name that speaks for itself. This means that, thanks to its reputation and branding, it sells itself.”
Aside from the show, Retreading Business wanted to discover a bit more about the organisation’s sales patterns in specific markets. Zeledon was happy to take us through some of their recent success.
“One of our very good customers, Treadwright, based out of Houston, now have 14 presses and we recently installed two new extruders for them. As part of our strategy we are continually looking to produce specific tread designs for B2B manufacturing.”
Zeledon went on, “We also recently sold a 96 x 120 autoclave for OTR retreading to Canada and two machines to Chile for mining applications. The latter was a big plus.”

whilst additionally delivering plenty of power with 4 air tool ports and 2 electric outlets. The Branick Model 5700 Tire Inspector has foot controls for rotation that are located on both sides to simplify its usage and allow for easy loading. On top of that the electric rotation motor reduces noise.
Zeledon gave his thoughts on the product, “This is a brand new launch for us and brings newer technology to the table. It has a smaller footprint and is therefore greener. In today’s society green products always provide an opportunity.”
“We are looking to sell this product to all markets, but our preliminary response has been very favourable. What also helps us is the history
Central American market, Retreading Business was intrigued to pick Zeledon’s brains on the markets in this part of the world. “In our experience we have found that some sectors have slowed down with some markets picking up such as Chile, Costa Rica and the Caribbean.”
As for the future, Zeledon stated that he was expecting to see some advancements in the retread manufacturing line in terms of automation.
Zeledon expanded on this, “I think in the future we see steps forward made in automation in the retread line, because we simply haven’t seen innovation in this sector in a long time.”
The Branick Model 5700 Tire Inspector was the star of the show for Tesco Italmatic LLC during the Latin American and Caribbean Tyre Expo last month, as the organisation saw it as the perfect platform to show off the new product.
President of Tesco Italmatic LLC, Daniel Zeledon, was at the forefront of the organisation’s presence at the exhibition with a number of representatives joining him. With a steady influx of visitors to the stand Zeledon took some time to sit down
with Retreading Business and discuss the standing of the show within the company.
“This particular show is an interesting one for us. It boasts good quality visitors despite its low attendance. Regardless of that, for us the show has been successful as we have made a number of contacts on top of meeting with our existing client base in this part of the world,” said Zeledon.
He added, “This show is ideal since it brings in Caribbean, Central and South American visitors, with a
