Italmatic Looks to Expands its Order Book in Retreading Segment
The retreading industry has not been very easy business over the past few years, and the companies selling retreading equipment look forward to seeing how the market conditions could change in future, according to Paolo Pretolani, the sales manager for Italmatic.
The company has a wide range of production for the retreading industry, including autoclaves, presses, moulds and other products. However, in 2018 at the Tyre Cologne,

Pretolani
explained that
for the
company’s
showcase this
year, it joined with its German subsidiary Dematic. The location was chosen with a view of the other important business lines that Italmatic had to pay attention to, as it is operates not only in the retreading industry.
In addition, Italmatic had some new products to discuss with its client. This year the company presented several innovations in its Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, including the new Italsensor model with improved effectiveness. The company expects this new technology to be in high demand among the tyre shops in Europe. At the same time, this year Italmatic brought no new equipment for the retreading industry to the Cologne exhibition. Nevertheless, the company was exhibiting its portfolio of
accessories for the tyre retreading sector, such as buffing blades and all the consumables for the retreading process. The company was also promoting some retreading machines, including those designed to retread OTR tyres.
According to Pretolani, the company always expects to be visited by both its traditional and potential new customers, when it is participating in events like this.

At The Tire Cologne 2018, TECH for the first time, exhibited on a joint stand with Pang Industrial and Salvadori – the other two brands of TRC, said Rachael McConvey, the marketing executive of TECH in EMEA region.
The three brands sell different products and have different customers, but operate in the same field, so bringing them all under a single umbrella within the exhibition could let the company achieve some synergy between their businesses, according to McConvey.
In addition, the different brands can join their efforts in some particular areas, she added. In particular, TECH and Salvadori jointly offer a range of
comprehensive products and solutions to extract value from materials formerly considered to be at the end of their useful life, making a meaningful impact both financially and ecologically.
Live demonstrations also brought attendees to the stand to see first- hand how the innovative products from TECH bring the customers safe, fast and effective tyre repairs. The latest offerings from Salvadori were also highlighted during the exhibition. One such tool, the Salvadori Rubber Extruder Gun, is used globally on section repairs conducted on commercial truck tyres and off the road (OTR) tyres, as well as in the tyre retreading market.
This year in Cologne, however, it enjoyed attention mostly from its old business partners in the retreading industry. Not many new people showed up this year.
It is hard to say how the things will change until the next event, Pretolani said. With the new legislation aimed to limit the flow of cheap Chinese tyres to the European market, there are hopes that the retreading industry could start recovering, or at least to stop suffering losses, Pretolani noted, although at this point it is hard to make any forecasts.
In general, the Cologne exhibition was successful for the company with several old contracts being updated and extended, and some new agreements signed, according to Pretolani.
