space for visitors to sit down and discuss trade and industry issues. Our sister title, Tyre and Rubber Recycling will be sponsoring a series of seminars on tyre recycling, and there will be a display of the tyre lifecycle from the new tyre through to its recycled materials.
The retread hall will hold all the retread and recycling specialists in one dedicated sector where there will be a shared interest in business. This creates opportunities for networking and business development in a more focussed theatre than we have become used to at other shows.
The wider exhibition will fill
four halls, covering around
70,000 square metres and each accessed from a single main arcade accessed from the North entrance. The Tire is the first dedicated European show to seriously
With less than a year to go The Tire – the all new tyre trade show in Cologne, Germany is scheduled for the 29th May through to the 1st June 2018.
The new show takes place at Koelnmesse, Cologne’s centrally located exhibition centre on the banks of the Rhine.
The centre is easy to access by road, and has its own station with direct links to both Cologne and Dusseldorf airports.
It is always going to be a challenge to establish a completely new, dedicated tyre show for Europe but with the backing of the BRV, Koelnmese appear to be on the right track to make a huge success
of this bright new future for tyre exhibitions in Europe.
Some potential exhibitors are divided between The Tire and the version of Reifen bolted onto Automechanika in Frankfurt, but the tyre market is one that stands alone. It
is part of the wider automotive market but the majority of people trading in tyres are doing just that tyres, and possibly wheels, and that warrants a dedicated European show.
Certainly, for the retread sector, it is better to be a section in a tyre show, than it is to be a section set aside in a tyre hall that is part of a wider aftermarket exhibition. Retreading Business and its sister titles Tyre and Rubber Recycling and Commercial Tyre Business, Truck and Bus and Tyreman will be playing a prominent role in the Retreading and recycling hall (Hall 9). Our stand will be host to exhibitions and will offer a meeting
awareness of retreading, is also a growing understanding that end of life tyres are a critical responsibility for the tyre industry and here, for the first time, we can see the tyre
sector taking ownership of tyre recycling and we can expect to see more exciting developments in this field as new technology breaks into the commercial market after decades of research and development. However, exhibitions are not just about
business, and Cologne offers a vast range of entertainment and restaurant life. Whatever your tastes from Hard Rock Café to the highest level of cuisine you can take your pick in this most cosmopolitan European city. For traditionalists who enjoy a local beer, Cologne is home to Kölsch, just the thing to go with your Haxe (roast pork knuckle) from one of the city’s “Haxenhäuser” or “Bierkeller” – don’t expect to come to Cologne and lose weight!
Do not expect a low protein low carb diet to survive Cologne
recognise the retreading and recycling sectors as important elements in the tyre industry. There is an acknowledgement that retreading has matured to the level where it is a key element in the business plans of all the major tyre manufacturers, and even the second-tier tyre manufacturers are now looking at retreading to boost their fleet sales. Until now retreading had been seen as an “also ran” in the tyre sector, a poor man’s choice. However, despite the challenges that the retread sector faces from Chinese tyres the practice remains a key element of any ongoing
business development for key tyre manufacturers and increasingly there is a real focus placed on how retreading fits into the wider tyre marketing experience.
