      During the 5th edition of Tyrexpo India, a new show GarageXpo India 2017 was also inaugurated to further widen the scope of the annual show held alternately in Delhi and Chennai. The three-day event organised between 11th to 13th July at the Chennai Trade Center, provided a platform to showcase products spread over tyres, automotive repair, maintenance and tyre accessories. “India’s economy is doing well with the auto sector having the leading edge. Despite the slowdown it has the driving force to do well across all segments,” observed Satish Sharma, Chairman, Automotive Tyre Association (ATMA). During his keynote address, Sharma said, “The tyre industry is not a laggard but very much a part of India’s growth story, investing in technology and capacity building.” India is now attracting investment in the tyre industry from global brands. “Many global players are building meaningful capacity in India, further indicating the confidence of the global brands coming here,” emphasised Sharma, who is also President, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA), Apollo Tyres.
The tyre industry is a big job creator in India, and it will continue to invest in creating jobs in the country. “The retail landscape is changing, and it will bring new opportunities for the industry to grow.”
