            Alessandro Campos New Kraiburg Sales Manager for Spain
Marangoni Announces Price Increases
Effective from 1st March 2017, Alessandro Bottesini Campos has been appointed to the position of Sales Ma¬nager responsible for the Spanish retreading market for
for the entry of the Brazilian producer Vipal into the European market.
"I am looking forward to the new challenge and the co-operation
with one of the leading European suppliers of retreading materials," Campos commented.
"We see great potential in the Spanish market for Kraiburg that we want to develop together with Alessandro
and wish him all the best and much success in his new field of responsibility," added Holger Düx, Head of Sales for retreading materials at Kraiburg Austria.
Marangoni’s Direct Retreading and Services business unit has fallen into line with other major manufacturers by announcing price increases of between 4 and 7 per cent on their TBR and OTR retread products as a reaction to the steep increases in raw materials prices that have
occurred over recent months. The decision has been made after an extensive review of manufacturing overheads and the company has pledged to keep future changes to their price structure in line with the increasing cost of raw materials for each product type.

and a veteran
leader of the
Indian rubber
industry, who
passed away on
March 28, 2017,
in Kochi (India).
A well-known
personality in the
global rubber
industry, Powath
had a wide circle
of friends and
well-wishers in all
sectors of the industry across the globe. He was associated with All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA) for decades and has played a crucial role in the growth of the Association and its flagship event, India Rubber Expo (IRE), Asia’s largest rubber industry show.
As CEO of ABM, he developed Rubber Asia, the over 30-year old flagship publication, to a point where it is Asia's largest rubber
industry magazine, and in 2008 he launched the bimonthly magazine Tyre Asia.
Powath was also the driving force behind the launch of ABM’s internationally acclaimed rubber
     Sri Lankan Army Gets In-House Tyre Retreading
The Sri Lanka Army has established a state-of-the-art tyre retreading facility at its Ordnance Factory at Dombagoda in Horana. According to army media sources the army funded new retreading section, capable of retreading more than 8800 tyres annually, was ceremonially declared open by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva on the 20th February.
The Rs. 14 million facility will retread 36 tyres per day and will be manned by 6 officers and 300 other rank personnel. With the
operation of this facility the army expects to save Rs. 20.5 million annually.
The Ordnance Factory at Dombagoda and the Army Industrial Workshop at Kosgama were established with the objective of producing much needed supplies including hardware, barrack equipment, machinery tools and accessories for the Army.
Senior army officers including the Chief of Staff, Major General Channa Goonetilleke were present at the opening ceremony.

Reiff Gives Away Test Tyres
German retreader Reiff, is looking for ten companies that want to equip their company vehicles with free Bandag retreaded test tyres.
The issue of tyre costs plays an increasingly important role in fleet management. Reiff believes that retreaded tyres can play a role in
saving fleet operators money on their tyre costs. The retread tyre service provider wants to prove that they are not as bad as their reputation. Especially since the legislators are now promoting the use of newly developed retreads in the context of De-Minimis.
