Kerala Based Mining Company to Enter Retreading Sector
The Kerala based Holy Family Group is planning to set-up a retreading plant to service its own tyres. The mining group has a fleet of 200 vehicles and currently get tyres retreaded from retreaders outside. The idea is now to retread the tyres in-house. “We intend to retread them ourselves to maintain quality, cost and reduce dependence on outside retreaders,” said Shyam Nambiar of Holy Family Group. Established in 1990 at Kannur district of Kerala, the company operates stone crushers, Redimix, concrete and sand mixing plant.
The company believes that running a retreading plant in-house is not a major issue as it could easily get around 350 tyres per month from company owned vehicles. “We could also retread an equal number of tyres from the Kannur market to make the operation viable,” he added.
The company plans to finalise the retreading venture soon and is currently in search of suitable plant machinery. “We are trying to understand the retreading market and are looking for plant equipment at the
Tyrexpo. We expect to finalise the machinery by the end of July and place the order accordingly,” he said. Holy family Group’s latest venture is Geosand, which is a branded product of crusher sand accepted widely in the construction sector as a complete alternative product to river sand for all kinds of construction purposes.

the event on an annual basis considering the growth potential in the Indian tyre market. Hitherto, it has organised the show bi-annually in Chennai, the Capital of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The show will now be organised alternately in New Delhi and Chennai.
SingEx recognised the Indian tyre industry’s growth potential more than five years ago, when it launched its first show in Chennai in 2011. “After three editions in Chennai and with New Delhi expected to emerge as one of the world’s largest tyre manufacturing centres over the next decade, we felt that it is time for us set foot here to expand our coverage in India with one edition in Delhi and the other in Chennai,” said Adrian Sng, General Manager, Event Business, SingEx Exhibitions Pte Ltd during the opening address.
The organisers are working on attracting Indian tyre manufacturers, who have solid domestic bases as well as considerable export markets. Interestingly, a couple of major tyre brands have also shown interest in the show. “We are continuing to work on bringing major Indian and
tyre in use directly onto a computer screen.
Interestingly, Kashmir Tyre House also has plans to expand overseas and is considering a venture into the tyre service business in West Africa. “The African venture is going to be next
overseas tyre brands into the next show. We have received a positive response from JK Tyres and Bridgestone during our meetings for the next editions,” confirmed Andrew Tan, Deputy Project Director, Automotive & Commodities Cluster at SingEx during an interaction at the show.
The show was spread over an area of around 4,500 sq m with around 70 exhibitors mainly from India, China, Thailand and Vietnam. The show received quality trade visitors like tyre dealers, accessory deadlers and retreaders from all parts of the country besides from neighbouring countries,” said Joyce Liong, Head Events Marketing, SingEx.
She further added, “Exhibitors gave us important feedback for the next event and we are working on the information collected to make the show more interesting to the wider audience in the tyre sector.” Meanwhile, the organisers are also working on an additional conference format. “We are not committing anything right now but plans are certainly in the pipeline,” said Andrew Tan.

SingEx Exhibitions has expanded the footprint of its Tyrexpo India event to the Northern part of country. The event provides a useful platform to sectors like tyres, automotive repair and maintenance, services and smart solutions and tyre sustainability. The Singapore based organisers have

Kashmir Tyre to Establish 1,500 Tyre Retreading Plant in Raipur
Tyre distributors are widening their service portfolios to become one-stop- shops in central parts of India. The mineral-rich region has a number of mines and is a major source of business for tyre dealers, particularly in the state of Chattisgarh, which, along with two other Indian States, has almost all the coal deposits in India. All the tin ore in India is also in Chattisgarh, as is a fifth of India’s iron ore. Rich deposits of Bauxite, Limestone, Dolomite and Corundum are also found in the State. Raipur based tyre dealer Kashmir Tyre House Pvt Ltd is in the middle of finalising a foray into retreading. As one of the biggest Michelin tyre dealers in Raipur, the capital of the state of Chattisgarh, the company carried out market research and visited retreading plants run on various popular systems. “We are setting-up a 1,500 tyre per month retreading plant in Raipur to run
on the Michelin system. The plant is likely to be operational in the second half of 2017,” said Rishi Sawhney, Managing Director, Kashmir Tyre House Pvt Ltd during an interaction at the recently concluded Tyrexpo India at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
“Currently, we are giving business of 500 tyres a month to other retreaders in and around Raipur, but once we have the retreading plant, we could retread them ourselves,” he said.
The company feels that adding retreading to its business would further help it to emerge as a one-stop-shop in the region, where it would offer a range of tyre care services like new tyres, retreading, wheel alignment, balancing etc. “Michelin is an excellent brand. 90 per cent of Michelin casings are retreadable, and they have the lowest cost per km,” he explained.
The company already has ready business as it is one of the major companies in tyre management contracts with in the State. “We have a tyre management contract covering 1,500 buses of a major state transport corporation, and therefore getting tyres for our own plant is no big deal,” he says. The company has developed tyre tracking software to check the status of tyres at any time of the day. The software will enable fleet owners to check tyre conditions on site, with a specific signal sending important info on pressures and temperature from any
