Pneushow Recaufair Continues to be South America’s Premier Retread Show
The 12th edition of Pneushow Recaufair took place from Jun 28-30 at the Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The show was very well attended and proved itself once again as a key exhibition for the tyre industry within the Mercosur region of South America. The show was backed up with a strong programme of seminars and training sessions.
The show is particularly strong in the retreading sector, being well attended by the Brazilian retreading industry, but also by representatives from the Argentinian and Chilean retread markets, among others.
The South American retread sector is quite fragmented with many suppliers of tread rubber and equipment, and, if we’re brutally honest, the show is not universally supported, with the manufacturer owned systems like Bandag staying away as well as several key rubber suppliers like Marangoni, Moreflex, Drebor, Levorin and the like. Nonetheless, the exhibition was well enough attended by the major players to make it a success, with key suppliers such as Vipal, Norte-Sul, Tipler, Elgi, Lukatec and others pitching in with significant stands to attract their clients and dealers.
One of the key trends in South America is the move towards more sophisticated retreading equipment and this was emphasised not only by Lukatec, who exhibited their modular system of extruder/builders and buffers, but also by Vipal, who launched a hi-tech dual buffer at the show, marking their entry into the equipment sector
The trend towards retreaders investing in tread presses and manufacturing their own pre- cured treads was also apparent with the presence of several rubber compounders such as Amazonas and Gumix.
The next edition of Pneushow Recaufair is scheduled for 2018 and will take place at the same venue.
