Until recently Bandasur, a Vipal retreader, was part-owned by a third party, but now the retread shop is 100% owned by Neumaticos Huete. Who is Neumaticos Huete? Well,
customers. This is being achieved by salesmen paying visits to clients twice per week. “Contact with our customers is important, and it has helped us make Bandasur a real
products is undoubtedly a key factor in their success.
In a final discussion surrounding the investments the company is making, Huete stated that they have rearranged the layout of the retread plant to utilise the space better and also they have opened two truck centres, when simultaneously competitors are cutting services, highlighting the growth that the company is experiencing. The most
intriguing investment is the ongoing plans for a truck centre situated on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. Huete revealed that the motive behind this plan was to take advantage of the upcoming government policy that prohibits large trucks entering the city, which will lead to transport hubs being created outside the city centre where goods will be transferred to smaller distribution vehicles.

the company is a family owned tyre service business with over 60 years of experience in the tyre trade. The company is located within the Argentine capital city of Buenos Aires and its business is primarily tyre sales, as well as having a strong focus on the approximately 300 transport companies that make up their client base. The company sells 1200 new tyres per month, which are mostly accounted for by the FATE brand. This makes up part of a completely integrated service that includes new tyre sales, service and retreads.
Managing Director Juan Carlos Huete was keen to tell us about the success of the recently acquired retread function of their business. Huete claimed that they are the
only growing retreader within the Argentinian market. This general lack of growth, he says, is due to the difficulties that have arisen from the political conditions within the country, specifically the change of government. However, like Tobler at Neumalarg SA, Huete believes that the market is undergoing a period of change, meaning that there are many hopes for the retread industry in the country. Bandasur currently makes 900 retreads a month. The target is to increase this amount to 1200 with the same number of employees.
Huete then moved on to talk to us about fleets, explaining that they are beginning to understand the concept of cost per kilometre in the country, but that more work needs to be done with regards to this concept being fully accepted and understood.
