Vipal Argentina Plant Expected to be Functional by the End of the Year
Vipal’s distribution centre in Rosario, Argentina
Vipal’s organisation in Argentina is hoping to have its new tread rubber plant operational by the end of 2016. With plans well advanced for the completion of Vipal’s prospective manufacturing facility in Rosario and the machinery in place and ready to go, the company are waiting for the economy to kick start again before the electricity and steam are installed. Vipal Argentina’s office is
based in the city of Rosario, 300 km from Buenos Aires, and it provides assistance in both a technical and commercial capacity, whilst covering markets that include Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, as well as Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Other markets order directly from Brazil, with the Rosario base selling and storing products on site. Presently, Vipal has 15 retreaders in its authorised
network in Argentina, in addition to which the
company’s second line brand, Ruzi, is sold via a separate distributor.
The Argentinian branch is under the control of branch manager Adalberto Fernandez and according to him, a high proportion of the machinery at the new plant is brand new, excluding one used buffing machine that has been installed, which was previously being used at Vipal Mexico. Fernandez also revealed that planned production at the new plant is set to reach 800 tonnes
per month of pre-cured tread.
The main reason behind the opening of the new factory for Vipal is the historical risk posed by the Argentine government in the form of the occasional closure of its borders to imports. At present, the level of capacity available in Brazil is such that it is possible for Vipal to service the Argentine market from Brazil, illuminating why they are under no urgent pressure to immediately open the plant. Five months’ worth of stock is readily available at the Rosario warehouse, and, according to Fernandez, the required lead time
